Space

Club Space is a world-renowned night club located in the Entertainment District of Downtown Miami. Through its 18 years of operation, Club Space has distinguished itself as a premier club where nightlife enthusiasts can experience innovative dance parties and clubbing that are helmed by a variety of the most cutting-edge international DJs and live acts who play anything from techno, house, EDM, alternative, and hip-hop music. The Space is divided into four distinct sections: The Ground (a live venue), The Floyd (often regarded as the club’s “gem” and hosts eclectic house as well as live electronic acts), The Loft (an indoor area that plays mostly hip hop music), and The Terrace (their outdoor rooftop area has brought some of house and techno’s most notable acts to date). With their unrestricted operating hours (hence the feeling of being lost in space) and stellar lineup of resident and guest DJs, they provide nothing but the best in electronic music, local & international. Their party does not stop at 5 AM, and neither should you…

Floyd

Part of a bigger take over that included the legendary Club Space, former after hours hot spot Libertine has reopened its doors as Floyd, a haven for jazzy live performances, eclectic DJ sets, disco, and soulful house. Floyd opened in the former Libertine space in January. Floyd will coexist independently of its big brother Club Space, offering a completely different atmosphere, ambiance and talent lineup. According to Sinopoli, the partners took a step back to rethink how to best use the venue. What they came back with is a more mature space that offers well-made cocktails and live music such as jazz, lounge, and even chamber orchestra. It is less intimidating than the party-till-sunrise marathon that happens upstairs. The place is located in Miami's 24-hour district, so it might stay open until 7 a.m., with more soulful house playing in the early-morning hours. It will also be open more often than Space. "Saturday, the [Space] Terrace is a ritual," Sinopoli says. "Floyd is going to be an everyday bar for industry or people leaving the Arsht Center or a Miami Heat game or [who've] just left work and want to see a jazz band. We are going after a demographic that doesn't go to 11th Street at all right now... that goes to hotel or jazz bars, a little bit more refined taste that still likes to have fun but doesn't like the pretense of feeling like they are in a stuffy establishment." Floyd is also an attempt to get the general public to see Space as more than just an after-hours spot, Sinopoli says. Perhaps those turned off by party mayhem will try Floyd or the soon-to-open live-music venue.

La Otra

La Otra is a different kind of enterprise for Odio, who's new to curating Latin bars. His previous ventures —Sidebar, Kindred, and Insideout — catered to Miami's nightclub-friendly crowds, more or less the same audience. So he brought in outside talent to assist him with this new undertaking. Odio has teamed up with Marcelo Medina — who also has a history in the city's after-hours scene with his entertainment company MAG Miami — to help him bring La Otra to life. Having accrued experience organizing Latin-themed parties and events at bars such as La Victoria, Barsecco, and Komodo Lounge, Medina brings a unique element to the partnership. “We always wanted to incorporate some sort of Latin element, but it’s one of those things of ‘stick to what you know,’ and what we knew wasn’t Latin," Odio says. "So while we were dealing with the challenge of reinventing the place, we were introduced to Marcelo Medina, who at the time was looking for a space of his own. [Together] we decided to take a dive into the Latin community, and we opened La Otra." Although Odio hasn’t specialized in the Latin nightlife scene, he still maintains a love and respect for it. He is Cuban-American after all. “We did a radical transition and just went full-blown Latin, and that’s not something that I’m used to," Odio says. "I barely speak Spanish, [but] I’m very proud to be from Miami and to be Cuban. To be able to cater to where I come from...it’s incredible." La Otra will send a wave of Latin pride through Brickell via its music and its entertainment offerings. The sounds will be a varied mix of reggaeton, salsa, and other Latin genres. The venue will also adhere to its cabaret theme by incorporating live performances and shows every weekend. Since opening its doors November 8, La Otra has already hosted conga players tapping away on LED-lit drums, as well as cabaret dancers swinging their hips in eccentric getups such as glittery golden bodysuits and huge lighted wings. Don’t expect the venue's interior to look too familiar, though. Tropical, glammed-out decor fills the completely converted space. Beyond the stage providing space for DJs and cabaret performers to do their thing, the disco balls and tropical plants hanging from the ceiling nicely complement the island-themed wallpaper. Medina’s sisters Luli and Mariale designed La Otra's aesthetic.

Komodo Lounge

David Grutman, the powerhouse behind Miami Beach’s LIV and STORY, has taken the third floor of his popular Pan-Asian eatery, Komodo Miami, and turned it into Komodo Lounge. The intimate nightlife venue boasts a full bar, bold aesthetics and special weekend programming. The hip space is full of trendsetting art work including unique pop art inspired decor by renowned artists such as Mari Kim and Hebru Brantley. To no surprise, Grutman has top tier musicians and celebrities perform, as well as both big time headliners and up-and-coming DJs who drive the Lounge's weekend programming.

Mad Club

Located in the heart of Miami’s Art district, MAD CLUB features an exquisite interior design combining glamour, art, and an unpredictable entertainment concept that will bring the most exciting hive to your night out scene. You won’t find that Wynwood bar staple — a big craft cocktail menu — either. No mixologists here. Instead, Mad Club will offer up the basics along with bottle service. The club will be open on Fridays and Saturdays only, at least for now. DJ Anastasia and DJ Walgee perform on Fridays, but themed nights will feature other local Miami DJs, like DJ Nicole from The Dirty Rabbit. “We were ready to add something truly unique and eccentric to the Wynwood neighborhood,” said owner and creative chief officer Andres San Martin in a statement. “It’s our mission to provide an experience that not only speaks to the lifestyle of Miami, by showcasing extravagant design and a vibe like no other.”
