Top 10 Best Clubs in Los Angeles, CA [2024 GUIDE]
Best of Los Angeles
Warwick
Part rustic cocktail lounge part Hollywood club, Warwick (formerly Club L), a warehouse of exposed brick, fireplaces, and unfinished ceilings, opens October 5. The idea here is a simple one, but not always easy to execute. Take the typical Hollywood club, but give it more of a rough, indie feel, and vastly upgrade the alcoholic options to seasonal craft cocktails made with better booze and quality ingredients. As one can see from the layout, it's a space suited to table/bottle service, but in this case the bar program, and yes, there's a "bar program," is executed by top talent Jason Bran and Damian Windsor who have likely liquored you up in the past four years at The Roger Room. While one can always order a drink from the venue's multiple bars, here's how tableside cocktail service will work. Those who reserve a table score a personal cocktail attendant to make drinks throughout the night. A table might come with a choice spirit, fresh squeezed juice, housemade syrup or bitters, seasonal garnishes, housemade "foams," and depending on the drink, fancy ice like this. Another fun bit about Warwick is that next door is a space dubbed the Warwick Workshop where all fruit is juiced and syrups are flavored, and where Bran/Windsor experiment with new intoxicants.

Highlight Room
The Dream Hollywood’s final concept is here, and boy it’s beauty. The Highlight Room takes over the rooftop and poolside at the mod hotel, which officially opens tonight with some of the sweetest views in Hollywood. With clear cut vistas looking out to Hollywood and beyond, it’s clearly outfitted to become an evening party space, what with speakers galore, two DJ booths, and bottle service. The far corner of the rooftop contains a decent number of dinner tables, where they’ll have full service. Think hamachi crudo, lobster toast, chopped chicken salad, and grilled prawns, with some amazing views to boot. The southern stretch of the space feels more like a nightclub, with low-flung tables and and pricey cocktails (Ace of Spade bottles run a cool $1K, for the ballers out there). Revelers looking to relax by the pool, which takes the center of the rooftop, could sip on a boozy watermelon lemonade while taking bites of wagyu sliders and pea hummus. Cabanas require reservations, and the entire roof is only available to hotel guests during the day. Starting at 6 p.m. on weekdays, things open up to the public, except on weekends when the rooftop opens at 1 p.m. for everyone.

We really love creating different worlds with our special collection of upscale lounge atmospheres for our family and friends. We are taking ‘poppy’ to the next level and will essentially be the live version of a surrealism painting. It’s the most innovative concept with a dream sequence that we have aspired and achieved for within the h.wood group portfolio.” Throughout the venue, guests are whisked away feeling lost in a surrealistic dream, finding themselves among the whimsical bohemian cast of modern mermaids, peacock poppies, garden gypsies, baroque layers, human animals, with swinging storytellers, all while listening and engaging with great music, socializing and dancing or lounging in the indoor/outdoor patio area, receiving personalized poems and caricature portraits, as bottled spirits are encapsulated in oversized roses and oyster shells and crystallized bathtubs, correlated by their matching role- playing hostesses.

Bootsy Bellows
The A-list-loved venue on the Sunset Strip has thrown out the black interiors and velvet seating for peach walls and plenty of greenery — but not to worry, the iconic puppet shows will remain. The Rat Pack is back at Bootsy Bellows, but with a new look. The former rendition — an old Hollywood, dimly-lit burlesque nightclub — has been replaced by a summertime escape mirroring Frank Sinatra’s 1940s Palm Springs home. The star-loved venue on the Sunset Strip has thrown out the black interiors and velvet seating for peach walls, pastel couches and plenty of greenery — but not to worry, the iconic puppet shows will remain. Co-owned by H.Wood Group's John Terzian and Brian Toll, and star David Arquette, Bootsy Bellows has been an L.A. nightlife staple since it entered the scene in 2012, and has been under renovations since August 2018 with John Sofio of Built, Inc. to design and bring the revamped space to life, this time with a more homey aesthetic. “You feel like you’re not in a nightclub, even though you will be,” says Terzian, who, along with Toll, now operates more than a dozen clubs and restaurants around Los Angeles, including nearby Blind Dragon, among other hot spots. “What we’re masking it with is the residential feel that I don’t think a lot of people are paying attention to. So we’ll have the entertainment, puppets and probably a few other surprises that go with that, but our overall feeling is marrying those two worlds.” A decked-out residence, at that. Drake’s personal sound guy was brought in to work on the DJ booth and speakers, embedded LED lights were added to the walls and ceilings to put on custom light shows, and gone is the signature VIP room that once welcomed Hollywood’s biggest names. That decision, is in part, thanks to the social media culture of 2019. “When Bootsy first opened in 2012, celebrities wanted to be hidden, they wanted to go out the back door, they wanted to have their own room and not be bothered and so we created this VIP room,” Toll explains. “As the evolution of nightlife changed, the celebrities who go out now want to be seen, they want to be on Instagram, they call the paparazzi on themselves — some don’t, but a lot of them do —so they want to be in the main room.” The revamped Bootsy Bellows opens its doors to the public on Friday, and hosted an early family and friends preview last week, welcoming Dave Chappelle and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, among others.

Break Room 86
Enter through the loading dock off Ardmore then walk through an employee entrance. From there, you're directed down a grey, glossy-walled hallway past the hotel kitchens and ice machines. The end of your destination is what was originally designed as the hotel employee break room, now transformed into L.A.'s newest '80s bar. Like most Houston Hospitality properties, there is an element of surprise to the entrance. We won't ruin it for you. Once inside, you're in an underground New York dance club from the '80s. There are old stacked TVs playing "Garfield," "The Ghostbusters" and "Rainbow Brite" highlighting the dance floor, a DJ booth with a special area for friends — and a wall completely covered in tapes. Houston Hospitality Beverage Director Joe Swifka created a cocktail menu inspired by his childhood. The "Rock-It Pop," named after the old Herbie Hancock song, is made to look like a red, white and blue Turbo Rocket popsicle. There's a bottom red layer of raspberry black tea syrup, a middle layer of lemon juice and vodka, and blue Curacao on top. The Dr.J! cocktail was named after basketball player Julius Erving, and is also an homage to Swifka's love of Orange Julius. His tiki version of the mall favorite incorporates lime, orange and pineapple juice, vanilla liqueur, overproof rum, Irish whiskey and a dash of bitters. "Each drink is loosely based on a fruit, with lemon, cherry, etc., then they get the modern craft cocktail treatment to make them more palatable for adults," said Swifka. "The drinks are simple and straight-forward but with enough complexity to mix it up." Behind the bar, the shelves are on hydraulics, which makes it easy to move them up or down, and flush with the floor to create a stage area. On some nights, you may find break dancers performing.

Off Sunset
A new nightclub has opened in the space formerly occupied by the VIP-dense Hyde, famous for its exclusivity and steel-faced bouncers, and there’s a reason you haven’t seen pictures floating around on Instagram Stories from inside the club, despite the fact that its opening nights hosted such stars as Kid Cudi and Tom Holland: No cellphones are allowed. The “Off” in the lounge’s name is an acronym for “only friends and family” as a nod to its uber-exclusivity: cellphones and photographs are forbidden, making it impossible to bring the magic of its interior onto social media. Each Thursday and Saturday night, the co-founders and their team of hospitality-driven entrepreneurs collaborate on a very intentional guest list, which is designed based on which mix of industry and industry-adjacent people would make the most diverse “salad” (as Schlitt puts it) on any given night. Cocktails like a tequila mule are available at the venue’s half-moon bar, and 10 open booths — five on each side — invite free-flowing conversations, uninhibited by a turned back or a tall piece of furniture. Offsunset sits right next door to the now-shuttered Greenblatt’s Deli, so make other plans for post-club eats now that it’s closed.

Lock & Key
Following in the speakeasy trend set by the likes of the Varnish and La Descarga, this Koreatown lounge—a low-ceiling, white marble and green-leather banquettes set the “Caesars Club” vibe, perhaps a nod to the former karaoke inhabitant. As expected, the entrance is unmarked: A stylish red door leads to a theatrically disorienting wall of doorknobs and keyholes. Once inside, there’s a small selection of beer and wine—four bottled beers (IPA, Lager, Brown Ale, Triple) and six wines by-the-glass (bubbly, white, rose and red)—but the cocktail program is front and center. Fresh herbs, fruits, simple syrups and torches set the stage for well-made, craft cocktails prepared by attentive and friendly bartenders donning classic white collared shirts and black vests. There’s a limited late-night, food menu from the next door Stall 239—try the Lollipop Chicken Wings and not-so-date-friendly garlic fries.

Intercrew Ultra Lounge
The original Intercrew at 3465 W. 6th St. in Koreatown shut its doors, but a newcomer is using its namesake to revive the basic idea of it — while remaining, significantly, its own thing. Richard Nam, who’s had a history in the world of hospitality, working with a Korean BBQ joint for a good portion of his career, is opening up a new restaurant also called Intercrew at 3330 W Wilshire Blvd. “This is a place to call home, to bring up all of our friends,” Nam told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) about the nostalgic aspect of this new restaurant and a place where everyone knows each other. “It’s a Cheers sort of concept.” While paying homage to the original, Nam is doing a lot of things differently. He labeled the cuisine as “European-Asian fusion,” but doesn’t necessarily want to get pigeonholed to that. Some of these menu items will be things like fish dishes and pasta dishes, but it’s not all set in stone. Nam says the food will be primarily European, but they and their friends have spent time internationally and have hand-selected their favorite foods. Intercrew will have a very upscale and sophisticated atmosphere — setting itself apart from the other Intercrew’s lounge setup. Nam says construction on their new joint is well underway, yet there is no planned opening date at this time.

Doheny Room
Mood lighting? Check. Celebrity sightings? Check. Bare-legged, high-heeled model types? Check. It’s 9 p.m. on a Saturday night inside Doheny Room. Sandwiched between two landmarks, the Troubadour music venue and Dan Tana’s restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard where West Hollywood meets Beverly Hills, the lounge-like eatery has quickly become the area’s newest spot to see and be seen since its soft opening in late April. Alicia Vikander, Chris Brown, Caroline Vreeland, Vanessa Hudgens with Ashley Tisdale – and, fascinatingly, Keanu Reeves with Winona Ryder – have all been spotted. It’s been the setting of choice for various occasions, particularly birthday parties (Malin Åkerman, Molly Sims, Stevie Wonder), as well as special events, like Nick Jonas's secret acoustic show for Creative Recreation’s Sole Sessions. Last weekend brought out Kourtney Kardashian; on this particular night, there’s David Spade and The Game. The front entrance is open and airy – almost in the style of a Moroccan riad – and a U-shaped interior balcony overlooks the lower level of the two-story restaurant, where upside down palm tree decorations with twisted rope as tree trunks hang from the ceiling like chandeliers. “It has a European meets California, farmhouse feel,” says Doheny Room’s director of nightlife Nick Montealegre of the architecture and decor, designed by Rockwell Group. And somehow, his unusual description makes sense. The exterior feels very art deco, with its bold blue-green, geometric front; but the interior, also rich in colors, features floor-to-ceiling windows and oversized, light wood shutter treatments. There’s a mid-century modernist touch with upscale finishes and a profusion of greenery throughout. By 11:00 p.m., Doheny Room’s downstairs is packed, as guests with reservations carry on their late-night dinners, and others mingle around the central, open-air bar – a commanding, pièce de résistance of sorts. The main action is upstairs, however, where a DJ spins and bottle service begins to flow – though access isn’t guaranteed. Newcomers looking to head up the steps are confronted with a bouncer and told they need a stamp. “You have to go outside and around,” he says, pointing to the front door
