Drawing more than a million visitors each year, Doheny State Beach is a truly magical place for a music festival. With camping, RV access, biking and hiking trails, this park is set squarely on the Pacific Ocean near Dana Point Harbor with views that go on for days. Doheny’s musical roots run deep, too, with the Beach Boys having immortalized the area in their 1963 smash hit, “Surfin U.S.A.”

Speaking of surfers, don’t be surprised if you see a few catching some late afternoon waves as you enjoy the music and food at the fest. Visitors also love the park for its tide pools and other natural attractions. To help preserve the park, a portion of proceeds from the Ohana Festival go to the San Onofre Parks Foundation. This nonprofit helps maintain the integrity and beauty of California’s coastal parks.

For over a decade, the non-profit 80/35 festival has been filling downtown Des Moines with live music. Taking advantage of road touring artists that pass through on Interstates 80 and 35, this two-day fest always has a solid lineup of indie rock and other genres to delight the fans. As they say on their website: 'We believe in the power of music. To wake the spirit of the people and stir the street.'

80/35 began as a two-day festival in downtown Des Moines in 2008, featuring headliners The Flaming Lips and The Roots. Its goal? To encourage music discovery and bring new sounds to Des Moines. And so it did. Since then, 80/35 has always encouraged listeners to celebrate and support music in our great city.

As a nonprofit festival, 80/35 has always tied the experience of the music festival back to its mission to strengthen and diversify the local music ecosystem in Des Moines. This is done through year-round education programs, professional development opportunities, and mentorship within the local music community.

Beloved multi-genre festival M3F will return in 2022 to Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix during the weekend of March 4-5, 2022, and is doing so in style. Over the years, the festival has booked some of the most impressive artists in the scene while also delivering tasty food, unique art, and vendors as well. Their upcoming edition carries on with that tradition as today, the lineup has been revealed with some of the scene’s finest artists including ZHU, Leon Bridges, and Kaytranada who top the list.

Also announced on the M3F lineup for 2022 are artists ranging from Jungle, Parcels, and Spafford to Whethan, Elderbrook, and Two Feet. This 100% non-profit festival has been able to donate over a million dollars to charities around Arizona and the rest of the country through its ticket proceeds. Shaky Knees Music Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Atlanta, Georgia. The festival was founded in 2013 by Tim Sweetwood in order to bring a proper indie music festival to the city of Atlanta, which already hosts festivals such as Sweetwater 420 Fest and Music Midtown.

The 9:30 Club, originally named Nightclub 9:30, also known simply as the 9:30, is a nightclub and concert venue in Washington, D.C., which was originally housed in the ground floor rear room of the Atlantic Building at 930 F Street NW, in the city's downtown area, where it opened on May 31, 1980, with a legal standing capacity of only 199 patrons. In 1996, due to its increasing prominence, the club was moved to a roomier space, its current location at 815 V Street NW, where it anchors the eastern end of the U Street Corridor.

As a special feature, the club, with capacity for up to 1,200 people, has a wheeled stage mounted on rails, which can be moved back and forth as needed. This way, the place can feel as packed with 500 people in attendance as it would during a sold-out, full capacity show.

The 9:30 Club's name was derived from its original street address, as well as the original opening time of 9:30 p.m. Early advertising on D.C.'s WHFS radio featured the slogan "9:30 – a Place and Time!"

Now the nightclub August Hall (previously the well known Ruby Skye), the location originally built in the 1890s as a Victorian Playhouse by celebrated architect August Headman. The beloved west end venue announced that it would be shutting down for good back in November. “We regret to inform you that The Mod Club Theatre will be closing its doors and operations at 722 College Street…effective immediately,” the message read. “Serving you for the last two decades has been full of great memories and good times.”

But no need to fear, Toronto concertgoers, it looks like the venue will be reopening under a new name: the Axis Club.

The Fillmore is a historic music venue in San Francisco, California. Built in 1912 and originally named the Majestic Hall. It is in Western Addition, on the edge of the Fillmore District and Upper Fillmore neighborhood. Since the club celebrated its re-opening, the quality, variety and number of shows held there has been staggering. The most appearances award would go to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who have played a total of 27 times at The Fillmore; first a 20-show marathon; the second run a meager 7 nights. Los Lobos brings down the house annually in December; Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams both appear to have a soft spot for The Fillmore. No Doubt, Radiohead, The Cure, Sonic Youth, Prince, The White Stripes, Dave Chappelle and even Tom Jones have graced the stage multiple times.

Still keeping up with that reputation The Fonda Theatre re-opened, with a capacity of 1350, on March 17th, 2012 with a performance by FEED ME with Teeth.

Operating as a neighbourhood theatre from 1935 to 2011, The Hollywood Theatre is a superior example of the Art Deco style. Architect Harold Cullerne designed the elegant theatre with neon signs reflective of the streamlined Jazz Age. It evoked the glamour and elegance of the 1930s, a time when Vancouver was growing rapidly, building other landmark structures such as Vancouver City Hall, the Lions Gate Bridge and the Burrard Bridge.

Extensive renovations were completed in 2020 while maintaining the timeless style of the original structure. With modern Tech Specs, The Hollywood Theatre now offers multi-dimensional programming including film screenings, musical performances, live theatre, comedy, festival and educational events, technical seminars and lectures as well as providing availability and access for events dedicated to charitable fundraising.

Soundwell, located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake, is the newest and most intimate music venue to pop up in the thriving Salt Lake City concert scene. Formerly known as Elevate, the fully remodeled and rebranded venue opened its doors in April of 2018. It offers top notch talent and premium sound in a 700 capacity atmosphere.

Terminal West is a 7,000 square feet music venue with exceptional lighting and sound systems. Terminal West has two bars and connects to the King Plow art center’s restaurant, Stationside, which is open during all live shows, and for lunch on Tuesday – Friday. They have an extensive beer list and other creative drinks. Interestingly, the Terminal West bars serve only canned beer from notable craft breweries such as 21st Amendment, Oskar Blues, Avery, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, and many more. There is also a balcony that provides patrons with an eagle-eye view of the action on stage during performances, and an outdoor roof deck overlooking the historic Atlanta train tracks. Though it is one of Atlanta’s younger music venues, having opened during the Spring of 2012, Terminal West quickly rose to prominence. Though it started with heavily electronic and dubstep shows, Terminal West has evolved into a well rounded space with more indie and rock acts in its lineup. To date, artists such as Ok Go, Walk the Moon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Caribou and People Get Ready have performed.

Los Angeles based Remi Wolf isn't your typical baddie. She's very much a bold protagonist straight out of a box-office breaking movie that we've yet to see. Wolf preciously fuses together elements of electronic and acoustic soundscapes to generate an abstract sound that we've never heard before. To support her highly-anticipated EP, You're A Dog!, Wolf is joining fellow Ones To Watch artist, Still Woozy, on tour this fall.

Written and co-produced by Wolf, You're A Dog! is an undeniable masterpiece that finally reveals Wolf's artistic talent to the entire world. The opening track, "Sauce" throws us into a frenzy of crushing synths and stirring electronics. On the other hand, "Rufufus" is solely funk all the way through and we just can't get enough. In "Doctor," Wolf refuses to be someone's backup plan as she recognizes her self worth amidst her soaring vocals.

Still Woozy’s fans have good taste. Not only have they rightfully fallen for the psychedelic bedroom-pop gems that Sven Gamsky has been dropping since 2017, they also requested in a recent Instagram poll that the Bay Area artist cover Tame Impala as a special lockdown treat. Gamsky’s comfortably laidback reinvention of ‘The Less I Know The Better’ has racked up over 540,000 views to date, and contains hallmarks of the Still Woozy formula of electronic influences with acoustic elements that worked wonders on Gamsky’s break-out solo bangers ‘Goodie Bag’ and ‘Habit’.

Gamsky is evidently keen to pay tribute to his musical heroes, with his latest single ‘Window’ ambitiously sampling the vocals of Marvin Gaye in a bid to create an era-blending jam in the vein of Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’. NME called Gamsky at home in Portland — where his lockdown life is consisting of making music in his home studio and “hanging out with my girlfriend and my dog” — to get the lowdown on his Gaye sample, his math-rock roots and his sincere hope that Kevin Parker will like his cover.
