The Genesis Show – Six of the Best: The 1982 Peter Gabriel Reunion On October 2, 1982, the impossible happened: Peter Gabriel reunited with Genesis for one unforgettable night. Seven years after leaving the band, Gabriel joined Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford at England's Milton Keynes Bowl for Six of the Best — the only full-length Genesis concert Peter Gabriel has performed with the band since his departure in 1975. Former guitarist Steve Hackett even made a surprise appearance. Unlike the Three Sides Live tour, this extraordinary concert reached deep into the Peter Gabriel era, bringing the theatrical, progressive Genesis of the 1970s back to the stage for one final night with songs like "The Carpet Crawlers", "Back in N.Y.C. ", "Supper's Ready" and "The Musical Box" which marked the last time some of those songs were ever played live by Genesis. But these weren't simply recreations of the original performances. Gabriel was fronting the 1982 incarnation of Genesis, a band that had evolved dramatically since his departure. The result was a fascinating collision of two eras, with the classic Gabriel-era material performed through the sound and energy of the Three Sides Live touring band. The Genesis Show recreates this legendary one-time event, giving fans the chance to experience the Peter Gabriel reunion concert that happened once — and was never repeated.
