Melkweg
Melkweg stands for pop culture in the most broad of senses. Each year, hundreds of concerts, club nights, films and music films, theatre performances, expositions and multidisciplinary events together attract almost 474,000 visitors. The venue is located in the only surviving factory building on the Amsterdam canal ring, a former sugar and, later, milk factory. This historical building houses two concert halls, a cinema, a theatre, and an exposition space, which each can be used separately or combined together. In the Melkweg, established names can be seen alongside new talent and emerging styles get the chance to reach a broader audience. The diversity of its programming and visitors, together with its different spaces and special location, have for years made the Melkweg a unique place.

Located in the Sloterdijk district, it's the brainchild of Slapfunk's Nelson Yogh Niemel and Samuel Taselaar, founder of Nomads Festival. Since the launch event — which saw the likes of Midland, Optimo and Avalon Emerson play — names such as Rhadoo, Tama Sumo and Prosumer have all visited the venue, with crews including VBX and FUSE hosting parties.

Hidden in the industrial West of Amsterdam lies a dark and legendary street, home to one of the most influential party locations of the Netherlands: The Warehouse Elementenstraat. Its industrial halls already wrote music history in the beginning of the 90’s, when some of the first bigger-scale house raves called ‘Multigroove’ set a milestone in the Dutch underground scene. Around 20 years later, in 2012, the location was re-discovered by GZG, a young collaboration of local Techno artists. Since then, the location has been opened several times and came alive again; in order to write a second chapter of music history.

Toekomstmuziek
A PLACE WHERE IT ALL COMES TOGETHER. A cultural hub, a second home where you can enjoy art, music, street food, craft beer & wine and each other. A place with the philosophy to make the music sector more sustainable for the artists and to make experiencing music “live” accessible for everybody. Wow, thanks for reading this and being part of the journey and community! Our idea was to just start somewhere and hope that a community of both music lovers, as well as musicians would start to exist and grow. So, to see it grow is such an amazing thing to witness! Music is so important for every person from an emotional perspective and being able to see, feel and hear it “live” an experience that enriches. With starting this concept, we wanted to do things differently, focusing on making everybody, the musician, DJ, band, visitor, team part of the venue, experience and, perhaps better said, the community & movement. In this day and age in which the world is becoming ever more business-like and perhaps even cold, it’s so important for all of us to have the feeling that we’re part of something and to understand that together we are stronger, can really make an impact and make change happen. Our mission is to create a safe environment, place and platform for people to connect with each other, not “although”, but “because” they have different backgrounds and stories and we’re hoping that through vulnerability and openness instead of ego and competitiveness we can help make the independent, underground music industry more sustainable for the artists who put so much of themselves into it while making experiencing live music accessible for everybody.
