On June 29, 2026, Beijing singer-songwriter Song Dongye released Take Another Moment, his second album and his first full-length release in thirteen years. Alongside him are more than twenty instruments and sound sources, leading lights of China’s jazz world such as Wen Zhiyong, Xia Jia, and Nathaniel Gao, and independent spirits as subtle and reclusive as Xing Jiangbo He is still occasionally playful, perhaps as a way of balancing his absolute seriousness and devotion to music—once even letting his cat's backside appear on an album cover. His photographs, too, remain quietly meaningful gazes upon the world around him. He still possesses that enviable gift for melody and that unmistakable voice, dwelling in absurd and paradoxical reflections, turning dense and ambiguous imagery into a succession of beautiful riddles.
