His approach reaches across generations of music, equally interested in an overlooked record from 30 years ago or something brand new, so long as the groove is there. After decades behind the decks, Jamie has taken that distinctly Chicago sensibility around the world, becoming a fixture at clubs and festivals internationally. His sets connect the history of Chicago house with disco, soul, and the unexpected, driven by a simple desire to make people lose themselves in the dance. His career represents both the enduring legacy and continued evolution of Chicago house music. _________________________________________________________ Mike Grant is a Detroit DJ, producer, and founder of the influential Moods & Grooves Records. Active since the early 1980s, Grant was part of Detroit's foundational electronic music movement, including WJLB's Street Beat crew alongside Juan Atkins and Derrick May. He was also among the earliest DJs whose mixes reached Detroit television audiences through WGPR's The Scene and became the first American DJ to hold a residency at Berlin's Tresor. As a producer and label head, Grant's work moves between soulful deep house and Detroit techno. Moods & Grooves has released music from artists including Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Andrés, Glenn Underground, Mr. G, and John Tejada. His own productions include the celebrated "The Struggle of My People," and his decades behind the decks have taken him from Detroit's Music Institute and the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival to clubs and dance floors around the world.
