About Buzzcocks
Website | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music
Buzzcocks remain one of punk rock’s most influential and enduring bands, continuing to evolve more than 45 years after helping shape the genre. Led by guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Steve Diggle, the Manchester legends built their reputation on a unique blend of melodic power-pop, punk energy, and thoughtful songwriting. From pioneering the independent music movement with their self-released Spiral Scratch EP in 1977 to influencing generations of artists from alternative rock to pop-punk, Buzzcocks have maintained a legacy built on innovation, experimentation, and emotionally intelligent songwriting.
Today, the band continues to attract new audiences through acclaimed live performances and new music, including 2022’s Sonics In The Soul, which earned both critical praise and support from artists such as Steven Van Zandt and Elton John. Following the passing of co-founder Pete Shelley in 2018, Diggle has carried the band forward into a new era, honoring its rich history while continuing to create and perform with the same passion and purpose that defined its early years. With new music on the horizon and a place secured among rock’s most celebrated acts, Buzzcocks remain a powerful and vital force in contemporary music.
