For 10 years, the Austin, Texas-based experimental avant-pop/electronic musician, born Roger Sellers, has been creating atmospheric soundscapes brimming with layers, texture, and deep emotional resonance. On his fourth and most immersive album to date, Filters, Sellers picks up where he left us on 2023’s mournful yet pop-minded Temporary Time. With its elegantly constructed melodies, silken synth-work, a sprinkle of field recordings, and an upbeat yet blissful blend of piano and percussion, Filters finds Sellers entering a new phase of existence as he works through the grief around losing his father and into a place of acceptance. Originally from Boston and now based in Los Angeles, Bad Snacks first played the violin at the age of 3 and comes from a background filled with Celtic folk and classical music. Her love of music has led to a mixed background as a violinist, producer, and musical educator, including time spent as an assistant professor at Berklee College of Music for Electronic Production & Design. In the last few years, Bad Snacks has released three beat tapes—including 2018’s otherworldly Neat Tape 1 and 2020’s soothing Bathtub Bumps—all informed by her many musical influences and a love for house and dance music.
