Description
A special hometown show for Ella Thompson, one of the leading lights of contemporary soul, celebrating the release of her incredible new 7” record
‘Promise To Keep / Change Of Heart’, is out through dual titans Mr Bongo & College of Knowledge Records.
Multi Award-winning Melbourne-based vocalist, Ella’s is a name being championed by some of the best in the business. She lands on Mr Bongo off the back of two standout releases on Hopestreet Recordings, Domino in 2023 & Ripple On The Wing LP in 2024 (PBS, RRR & Double J Album of the Week) and a stacked touring schedule including festivals, headline shows & supporting the likes of Jalen Ngonda, Lee Fields, & Thee Sacred Souls.
Bridging the worlds of classic & contemporary soul, the new 7” is a true two-sider featuring Promise To Keep, an irrepressible upbeat groover that echoes mid-to-late-sixties vocal groups, and the flip, Change of Heart, a cold downtempo deep soul tearjerker.
This will be an evening of peak Naarm Soul, joined by friends & special guests Temporary Blessings, Melody Kin & Slow Grind Fever DJs keeping it slinky in between and after the show.
Presented by Mr Bongo, College of Knowledge Records & WAT Artists.
