About Cabaret Voltaire
Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music
Cabaret Voltaire were one of the most influential pioneers of industrial and electronic music, emerging from Sheffield, England in 1973 and fusing Dadaist experimentation with the DIY spirit of punk. Early releases such as “Nag Nag Nag,” The Voice of America, and Red Mecca established their abrasive, avant-garde sound built on tape loops, primitive electronics, and confrontational performance art. As the decades progressed, the group continually reinvented themselves, evolving from post-punk and industrial into funk-inflected electronics, synth pop, and club-oriented music that anticipated and helped shape electro, house, techno, and ambient styles.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Cabaret Voltaire remained at the forefront of electronic innovation, scoring chart success with tracks like “Sensoria,” embracing house music on Groovy, Laidback & Nasty, and exploring intelligent techno and ambient soundscapes on later works such as International Language and The Conversation. Though the band eventually disbanded, founding member Richard H. Kirk kept the Cabaret Voltaire name alive through archival releases, live performances, and new material, culminating in 2020’s Shadow of Fear and subsequent experimental releases. Kirk’s death in 2021 marked the end of the project, but Cabaret Voltaire’s legacy endures as a cornerstone of modern electronic and industrial music.
About I Speak Machine

Tara Busch is a Los Angeles - based writer, performer, film composer & producer. In 2013, she co-founded the audio/ visual project I Speak Machine with filmmaker/writer Maf Lewis. In 2022, I Speak Machine released their album WAR, and the album was accompanied by an iconic series of videos, directed & created by Maf Lewis.I Speak Machine brought the WAR album to the stage in 2022, touring extensively with electronic music legend Gary Numan for his 35-date US tour and 15 dates in the EU. Centered around key tracks from the WAR album, Tara’s unique stage persona and performance was carefully conceived as an extension of the subject matter and artistic design of the album. Tara commands the stage alone, donning a range of costumes including pointed leather crowns, military inspired harnesses and uniforms, and vintage cherry-red jumpsuits. Shifting in an instant between harrowing, unhinged shrieks to stratospheric, operatic swoops, her performance is wild yet entrancing, featuring dreamlike interludes on her beloved synthesizers to offset the mayhem. The performance is most accurately described by a fan as “Nina Hagen meets Norma Desmond in a head-on collision with Lux Interior".
