Description
Naarm’s Afrobeat juggernaut The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra return to Howler to close out 2025.
Don’t miss one of the year’s most anticipated shows as Australia’s premier Afrobeat band, takes over Howler on Friday, December 19, 2025. Known for their electrifying, mammoth ensemble, The POAO delivers a pulsing, percussive journey—a powerful 21st-century response to the world-shaking music of 1970s Nigeria.
Expect a set true to the Afrobeat blueprint, led by fierce vocals and a howling horn section, woven with deep-rooted political comment and the band’s unique blend of pan-African, local, and hip-hop influences.
Crucially, this special year-end show will feature the collective showcasing brand new songs from their upcoming release, which includes the powerful contributions of Uncle Robbie Thorpe. Experience the fire of The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra live as they bring their unique blend of culture, conviction, and colossal sound back to the stage—an essential night for the heart, mind, and hips.
