Description
This edition of Nonstop focuses on all things euphoric, groovy, and classic, from minimal to maxed out. Two Brooklyn darlings with a taste for the hypnotic and progressive, sabrout and Matas, handle the opening and the sunrise. Raised in Cairo and based in NYC, sabrout kicks things off, a long-awaited Nowadays debut from a regular of the dancefloor with a well-honed ear for deep, heady techno. Matas is a sound technician at Nowadays, so you can trust he knows how to work the system–beyond that, he’s a regular at clubs like BASEMENT and across the DIY circuit.
On peak-time duties, we’ve got a b2b between Partisan founder Anthea and Psionic founder Oshana, coming together from the UK and Berlin with a rooted, energetic blend of techno and house. Originally from the foot of Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka, Japan, now based in Berlin, Cabaret Recordings founder DJ Masda takes over for the morning shift from 8 til noon on Sunday, seamlessly blending classic techno, electro, and house with fresh sounds.
A soulful Sunday evening follows with DJ Holographic and Shaun J. Wright at the helm. “One-woman funk machine” DJ Holographic was born and raised in Detroit, and her rhythmic, euphoric DJ style combines influences house, R&B, hip-hop, disco, true Detroit techno, and Motown. Finally, it’s Chicago-based NYC regular Shaun J. Wright, a former vocalist of Hercules and Love Affair and co-founder of the Twirl party series and record label, who’s sure to close things out on a cheeky high note.
