Talib Kweli
The Brooklyn-based emcee earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted, socially aware and politically insightful rappers to emerge in the last 20 years.
“I’m a touring artist. I’m an artist that’s internationally known. I’m not just a local artist at this point in my career. I’m cognizant of the fact that what I do is beyond where it started. I’m trying to reach the apex of where I am now, but without turning my back on or dismissing what I’ve done before.”
After nearly 20 years of releasing mesmerizing music, Talib Kweli stands as one of the world’s most talented and most accomplished Hip Hop artists. Whether working with Mos Def as one-half of Black Star, partnering with producer Hi-Tek for Reflection Eternal, releasing landmark solo material or collaborating with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Just Blaze, J Dilla, or Madlib, Kweli commands attention by delivering top-tier lyricism, crafting captivating stories and showing the ability to rhyme over virtually any type of instrumental.
In 2011, Kweli founded Javotti Media, which is self-defined as “a platform for independent thinkers and doers.” Kweli has set out to make Javotti Media (which released his 2011 album, Gutter Rainbows, and is named after his paternal grandmother) into a media powerhouse that releases music, films and books.
Landon Wordswell :
Landon Wordswell is an American rapper, spoken word artist, and educator known for his intricate lyricism, socially conscious themes, and dynamic live performances. Based in Orlando, FL, he’s gained recognition in the underground hip-hop scene for his storytelling abilities, addressing issues like identity, social justice, and personal growth.
Landon Wordswell has collaborated with various artists and performed across the U.S. and internationally, often blending classic hip-hop influences with more contemporary sounds. Wordswell has built a strong reputation as a performer by learning from and touring alongside acts such as Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Game, Bun B, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and many, many more. He’s also involved in education, conducting workshops and community events focused on empowering youth through creative expression and hip-hop culture. His music resonates with fans of conscious rap, and he’s known for his dedication to the craft of lyricism and poetry.
TRVY & The Enemy:
Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Athens, Georgia, Trvy & The Enemy is a live hip hop band that fearlessly breaks barriers in the realm of modern rap music. Blending elements of trap with psychedelic rock, they deliver a sonic experience like no other, captivating audiences with their high energy performances and daring musical experimentation.
At the forefront of this groundbreaking ensemble is Trvy, an artist who has been making waves as a solo act for the past few years. With a string of self-released albums under his belt, Trvy has firmly established himself within the hip-hop scene of Georgia. His lyrical prowess and dynamic stage presence have earned him a loyal following and widespread acclaim.
In 2021, Trvy embarked on an exciting journey to record a Tiny Desk home concert with a live band, seeking to expand his sonic palette and reimagine his songs without relying on backing tracks. This endeavor led to the formation of a remarkable backing band known as "The Enemy." Comprised of three childhood friends who share an uncanny musical chemistry, The Enemy breathed new life into Trvy's sound.
Drawing inspiration from diverse genres such as psychedelic rock, funk, and world music, The Enemy injects their distinctive flavors into Trvy's music. Together, they constantly experiment and improvise, pushing the boundaries of their collective sound while ensuring that the lyrics remain at the forefront.
