About the Menzingers
Website | Facebook | Instagram | X (Twitter)
Since forming as teenagers in 2006, The Menzingers have shown their strength as rough-and-tumble storytellers, turning out songs equally rooted in frenetic energy and lifelike detail. On their new album Hello Exile, the Philadelphia-based punk band take their lyrical narrative to a whole new level and share their reflections on moments from the past and present: high-school hellraising, troubled relationships, aging and alcohol and political ennui. And while their songs often reveal certain painful truths, Hello Exile ultimately maintains the irrepressible spirit that’s always defined the band.
About Gladie
Website | Instagram | X (Twitter) | YouTube | Spotify
Don’t Know What You’re In Until You’re Out marks the first Gladie production with a set band lineup, a feature which was previously hampered by the pandemic. As a result, the LP leans into Gladie’s live energy and dynamics, moving away from the home-recorded keys and drum machines of their 2020 debut Safe Sins.Koch recorded Don’t Know What You’re In Until You’re Out at The Bunk in early 2022 with Matt Schimelfenig (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Pat Conaboy (guitar), Dennis Mishko (bass), and Miles Ziskind (drums). Schimelfenig also recorded and mixed the record, while Ryan Schwabe mastered. Mark Glick (cello), Mike Park (saxophone), and Brian Lockerm (trumpet) guest across four tracks.
About Crossed Keys
Website | Facebook | Instagram | X (Twitter) | Spotify
Chances are, if you've been paying attention to the Philadelphia underground music scene in the past two decades, you've seen one or two members of Crossed Keys before, although it's very likely that you've seen them all. The members of Crossed Keys have a long history of playing in hardcore and punk bands from the area including Kid Dynamite, Ink & Dagger, Step Ahead, Kill The Man Who Questions, Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer, Halo of Snakes, and The Curse. Crossed Keys draw from an eclectic palette of influences to create a unique twist on a sound that has been cultured in years of basement shows and record shops. The band is currently playing in support of their debut full-length, CROSSED KEYS BELIEVES IN YOU, released May 5th, 2023 on Creep Records, Dead Satellite Records, and Sell The Heart Records. Crossed Keys has gotten a lot older, a little wiser, and lost varying amounts of hair, but still makes music perfect for sweaty singalongs and all around good times.
About Captain, We're Sinking
Facebook | Instagram | X (Twitter) | YouTube | Spotify
Captain We're Sinking formed in 2006 in the healthy punk-pop scene in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Keen to be a part of their local musical landscape, they decided to form a group. Bob Barnett took up vocal and guitar duties, as did Leo Vergnetti, and Zach Charette played bass. Mike May and Roberto Acosta both played drums in the band for a while until Bill Orender took up the post. They had an immediate connection to the Scranton music scene as Barnett's brother Greg was a member of fellow local band the Menzingers, and the quartet released their debut record The Animals Are Out in 2007. Barnett explained that their music was influenced by bands that were their contemporaries, name checking Against Me!, RX Bandits, and the Lawrence Arms alongside Star Wars, black coffee, and comics. It would take the band six years to deliver a follow-up, but they did put out a number of split singles and EPs in the meantime, including It's a Trap and Timeshares/Captain We're Sinking. In 2013 the band released The Future Is Cancelled, which drew positive comparisons to the Menzingers. In the years following that record they kept themselves busy with live shows, which included the Menzingers' annual NEPA Holiday show, and Barnett released his debut solo record, Live from the Star & Garter, after he toured the U.K. with his brother Greg in 2016. But various side projects didn't detract from Captain We're Sinking, and the ten-track album King of No Man appeared in 2017. The record was preceded by lead single "Trying Year." ~ Bekki Bemrose
