Description
Chris Canterbury
It’s not necessarily the song, it’s the story. That’s how North Louisiana native, now Nashville-based singer-songwriter Chris Canterbury has always approached songwriting.
With a common vernacular and a coarse southern drawl, Chris writes and sings about life from a unique but oddly-familiar point of view. Songs about liquor stores, truck stops, low-rent motels, and the grifters and transients that frequent them. He takes a critical look at some of the topics that often get discarded in the writing room, and he presents them as though they’re a casual kitchen conversation. Chris has toured the country for the better part of the last 2 decades, sharing the bill with the likes of Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and many, many others. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pool hall or a theater, a festival or a front porch, Chris’s live sound is the whiskey-laden narrative that anyone with a struggle can relate to.
Faren Rachels
Known around Nashville as a “rare talent” (CelebMix), Faren Rachels is undeniably one of the hardest working artists in Music City. After playing her way through the dive bars of her college town in Athens, the Sparta, Georgia native officially turned her sights on Tennessee in 2012. Working side-gig after side-gig & co-writing as often as she could eventually led to a publishing contract that earned her cuts Billboard has called “steady, stomping [and] propulsive”. Her honest approach to songwriting has landed her credits with artists like Lainey Wilson, Ashland Craft, Chrissy Metz & more. Rachels has shared the stage with many country greats including Luke Combs, Brantley Gilbert, Willie Nelson & Deana Carter. “My grandparents loved country music… they took me to my first concerts,” she recounts, “and now I get to tour with some of the same artists they introduced me to.”
“I just wanna make music for grown-ass women” she explains, “I want to make music about things people are actually going through… not just drinkin’ beer 24/7.”
Despite having to take a break from touring due to the pandemic, Faren is now poised to impress once again with a string of new releases (produced by Rocky Block and Austin Goodloe) and a rapidly building tour schedule. It’s no wonder her work has been described as “speaking to the universal journey, and struggle, of turning dreams into reality,” (American Songwriter) because Faren Rachels has lived, and thrived, through it all.
