Night Heron is the result of several Portland music veteran’s (former members of Y La Bamba, Radiation City, Reptaliens, et al) ending up in the same room with a common goal to lay back on both the beat and the volume knob. The music they create together is restrained, groove-forward, and the melodic sensibilities and arrangements fall somewhere between Sade and Air. Night Heron received a nod from the Portland-wide Best New Band Pool conducted by Willamette Week in 2022. Their debut LP was released in early 2021 on Literal Gold Records, so serious touring was not really on the table. This will be their first west coast tour since that record came out, with a new LP on the horizon and singles out this fall.

Alexi Erenkov’s duo, The Saxophones, create beautiful and personal music. Accompanied by his wife, Alison Alderdice, on percussion and samplers, they blend the darkness and melancholy of 1950s balladry with minimalistic woodwind arrangements, creating a hypnotic sound that hearkens to the past while affirming its place in the present. The band have released three albums to date with the most recent, To Be a Cloud, being released via London label Full Time Hobby in June 2023. https://www.thesaxophones.com/
