Description
With an encyclopedic musical knowledge that could power a streaming service search engine, fashion sense right at home in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and the uncanny superpower to craft irresistible pop anthems, the 21-year-old singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer is about to make a big splash on his sophomore album Almost Real.
With his Warner Bros. Records debut, Adventures In Real Time, which he co-produced and served as sole writer for, Dylan made a big first impression resonating with everyone from The Huffington Post to YouTube personalities like Shane Dawson and The Gabby Show who he started writing and producing songs for. He went on tour and performed 100-plus shows across the US and stirred up over 10 million Spotify streams in under a year for his single “Let’s Get Started.” Delivering a single-laden pop record with everything from exciting anthems to heartbreaking ballads, Almost Real has something for every listener. Regarding the album’s theme Dylan says “Almost Real deals with the transition from age 19 into 20, where I start to really reach for my dreams and deal with all hurdles that come from that”. The album is a soundtrack to young love co-produced by Dylan and collaborator Matt Rad (Martin Garrix, Bebe Rexha, Demi Lovato) and co-written with hitmakers, Teddy Geiger (Shawn Mendes “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back”), John Ryan (Niall Horan “Slow Hands”) and Julian Bunetta (Louis Tomlinson “Miss You”).
The album’s first single, “Sign Language” generated over 1.5 Million Spotify streams landing on key playlists, and organically amassing more plays by the day. “I Want It Like That” is a powerhouse “if-I-ruled-the-world” anthem, detailing Dylan’s dark twisted fantasies like Kanye West becoming the President, partying with Grimes, and having his own private jet filled with vinyl records. “Breakup Symphony” is the breakup singalong Mozart never wrote. “Ride” is the night trip windows-down song of the summer. These vivid tales and productions are all the inner- visions of Dylan, who’s been writing, performing, producing, and releasing his own material since he was 14. His musical appreciation spans everything from K-Pop to hip-hop. His enthusiasm for the pop-album experience and the wonders of songwriting are what illuminate Dylan’s spirit and makes his songs so special. He’s inviting everyone along for the ride with Almost Real.
Just forget those hurdles that your twenties’ bring you and lose yourself in the chorus of “I Want It Like That”
“Superstar shades on tonight’s red carpet, screaming my name then the party gets started, I want it like that. Private jet plane, you, me, and my records, flying away to the best day ever. This is what I want, and I want it real bad, never going to happen, but I want it like that”.
