His unique and dynamic sound blends elements of Tech House,Techno, House and Minimal whipping the crowd into a frenzy wherever he plays!
Koen launched his label _aBZoluT. in Spring 2008. One of his first releases“Wake Turbulence” peaked at #1, both in the Beatport overall Top 100 and intheir Techno Top 100 in July 2008. “Wake Turbulence” ended up being number 3 in the Beatport Techno Top 10 of 2008and was nominated as “Best Techno Track 2008” at the Beatport Music Awards 2009!
Koen operates, besides on his very own aBZoluT. imprint, on a wide range ofleading labels like Toolroom Records, Size, 1605, Deeperfect, Spinnin’, Bosphorus Underground andBluFin. The man’s biggest success till date though, came when Toolroom Records released
Fatboy Slim V Koen Groeneveld “Rockafeller Skank”. The track skyrocketed to the#1 spot on Beatport’s overall chart in March 2009.
Koen delivered a big number of epic remixes for the likes of a.o. Umek,Spektre, Tocadisco, Lutzenkirchen, Sander van Doorn Vs. Marco V, David Guetta, Silvio Ecomo, Age of Love, Ferry Corsten’s System F, Robbie Rivera, EDX & Daniel Portman,Noir and Yello.
And the ‘remix success story did continue…In Summer 2011 Spinnin Records released Koen’s remix of the all time houseclassic “Plastic Dreams” by Jaydee. It became the best selling Techno genretrack of Beatport in 2011 ! It dominated the Techno Top 10 for no less than 5 months (!) of which 3 monthson #1 !
Collabs with Mark Knight (“Put Your Hands Up”), Ahmet Sendil (“Flaps 128”) andTocadisco (“Techno Logical World”) pushed our Tech don higher on the ladder ofthe electronic dance music world in 2009. Early 2010 Koen ended up at #7, voted out of hundreds of DJ’s, in the HousePlanet DJ Poll 2009. “Air Breaks” , a disco influenced Tech House gem, released on Toolroom Recordspeaked @ #1 in Beatport’s Tech House Top 10 and @ #5 in the overall chart inJune 2010.
Together with Addy van der Zwan (Koen’s musical partner since the stone age) helaunched a series of Disco-ish Tech House 2 track E.P.’s entiled “Disko Tek”which have been released via _aBZoluT.“Gotta Move”, “Do It Do It”, “Wheep!” and“He” dominated the Beatport charts in 2010, 2011 and 2012 !
For 2012 / 2013 there are some upcoming collabos in the making with the likesof Umek, Stefano Noferini, Tocadisco, and Ahmet Sendil, while his 2012 ‘solo’releases like “Gulfstream”, “Birdstrike” and the groundbraking “Superjet” doingtheir damage to dance floors worldwide !
Another strong Groeneveld weapon are his most sought after bootlegs. In 2011 hedid his magic on the classics “Sky and Sand” by Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner,DHS’ “House Of God” and Daft Punk’s “Around The world”. Not to mention the ones he did of Underworld’s “Born Slippy” and “Cowgirl” andThe Chemical Brothers’ “Hey Boy Hey Girl”.à
