The 7th St Entry is a smaller venue (capacity 250) attached to the historic First Avenue. This space was once used as a restaurant area (the “Greyhound Cafe”) in the bus station, before it became the music venue that is known today as “The Entry” among the locals. “The Entry” opened its doors in March 1980 (under club Sam’s) as a venue that catered to local bands.

Several recordings have been recorded live at The Entry, including The Scouting Report’s hit song “Over the Ocean”; Hüsker Dü’s first album, Land Speed Record; the song, “Cables,” on Big Black’s Atomizer album; Rifle Sport’s live album, Live at the Entry, Dead at the Exit; and Motion City Soundtrack’s Commit This to Memory live DVD.

The 9:30 Club, originally named Nightclub 9:30, also known simply as the 9:30, is a nightclub and concert venue in Washington, D.C., which was originally housed in the ground floor rear room of the Atlantic Building at 930 F Street NW, in the city's downtown area, where it opened on May 31, 1980, with a legal standing capacity of only 199 patrons. In 1996, due to its increasing prominence, the club was moved to a roomier space, its current location at 815 V Street NW, where it anchors the eastern end of the U Street Corridor.

As a special feature, the club, with capacity for up to 1,200 people, has a wheeled stage mounted on rails, which can be moved back and forth as needed. This way, the place can feel as packed with 500 people in attendance as it would during a sold-out, full capacity show.

The 9:30 Club's name was derived from its original street address, as well as the original opening time of 9:30 p.m. Early advertising on D.C.'s WHFS radio featured the slogan "9:30 – a Place and Time!"

Drake is making History. He's teamed up with Live Nation to launch a venue called History that will open in Toronto later this year.

The venue will have a capacity of 2,500 and will host around 200 shows and events per year. It's in the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto's east end at 1663 Queen Street East. By Drake's arena-sized standards, this is a "smaller room."

He said in a statement, "Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History. I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans."

History has been in the works for more than three years. Construction is scheduled to wrap up later this summer. An announcement states, "History includes a convertible general admission area and reserved seating configurations for all types of events — from concerts, live entertainment and galas to community programs and events.

After decades as a grindhouse and adult movie venue, the theater was closed in 2000, only to lay dormant for several years. Six years later, developer Tom Gilmore acquired the property, using it as an occasional art and performance space for the monthly Thursday night Downtown Art Walk. Known for its sloped floor, proscenium archway and gothic-inspired ceiling, The Regent is a true relic and the last remaining historic movie theater on Downtown LA’s Main Street. Music promoter Mitchell Frank, along with Artist and Recreation, LLC, and Knitting Factory Entertainment Inc., took over the lease in 2012 and has restored the theatre to its former glory. Improvements include an update on all interiors, second story mezzanine for killer viewing as well as a pizzeria (Prufrock Pizzeria) and bar (The Love Song).

Roadrunner is @BoweryBoston's newest 3,500 capacity venue, opening in Boston's Allston-Brighton neighborhood in Spring 2022. 

The Boston area has mourned the loss of beloved music venues since the pandemic hit two years ago. But tonight a new club opens in Allston-Brighton, and it's a big one.

Roadrunner is being billed as the largest indoor general admission venue in New England. We took a tour to find out how and why the team behind Roadrunner designed it to be a better experience for audiences and artists.

When you walk into a music venue it can be chaotic. You often end up meandering from the box office, in a herd of giddy people, through cramped hallways to find the stage. At Roadrunner it's one of the first things you see.

Local entrepreneur, John Pergal, and other McKees Rocks partners recognized that restoring the Roxian would lead to a significant transformation of the McKees Rocks business corridor, yes, but the impact of this preserved piece of history will lead to so much more. Locally, the venue will spark further economic and community development through the creation of jobs, revenue for Chartiers Avenue businesses, and will revive the cultural communities North of the city. Regionally, the venue will provide a space for musical acts who would previously bypass the Pittsburgh market. With a capacity of 1400, Roxian Theatre will satiate the need for another venue in the 800-1,500 seat range, therefore enhancing the already vibrant music, arts, and entertainment culture of our city and surrounding areas.

The persistence and support of many local players and investors has made possible the dream of many, reviving this crucial piece of Pittsburgh history. Here’s what you can expect from the new space: Among the extensive renovations, you will find an overhaul of design elements, extensive structural upgrades, and an overall expansion of the space.

The Tabernacle opened 1910 as a Baptist Medical Center, school and church, converted to a music venue in '96 and has hosted many notable acts.

The Uptown Theater is a historic theater located in Kansas City, Missouri. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as the Uptown Building and Theatre.

Following the acquisition of the Uptown, a $15 million renovation of the theater was completed. The original splendor was restored in the details and colors of Eberson’s original design. In addition, 33,000 sq ft of new lobby, bar, office and banquet space was added. Because of the redevelopment, the Uptown remains one of the few remaining atmospheric theatres still in operation. Permanent seating remains in the balcony and rear half of the main floor. The front half of the floor nearest to the stage is now open for table arrangements and general admission standing for concerts.

On July 2, 2005, native Kansas City band the Get Up Kids played their “farewell” show at The Uptown. The band re-united three years later.

The Uptown is now ranked number 82 on the list of the top 100 theaters in the world by the concert industry magazine Pollstar.

Resurrected Velvet Underground club will be reopening as a live music venue in February.

Local entertainment group Embrace Presents has taken over the Queen West venue, which closed in September, and plans to open the revived space early in the new year.

“We heard the Velvet was closing, so we immediately reached out as we had always been huge fans of the venue,” says Embrace’s CEO, Adam Gill.

Embrace has already started to revamp it to focus solely on live music. “We plan is to modernize it and we are doing a big renovation as we speak,” Gill says, “The main difference will be that its focus will be on live music as a concert venue where before it was more a club for goth or industrial music.”

The space, which has been a go-to place for rock, new-wave and metal, was dissolved by Liberty Entertainment Group back in September. According to a press release, the Liberty was shifting gears to focus on expanding a repertoire of wine bars and clubs.

Considered a musical institution by many, the intimate venue has featured an impressive roster of Canadian artists, including Alanis Morissette, who celebrated her chart-topping album release party of Jagged Little Pill there in 1995.

Embrace has announced their official reopening party will take place on February 12, with Toronto’s own dystopian-pop group, TRUST to ring in the comeback of the space.

“We had thought it would be an amazing live venue for a few years now,” say Gill. “Since the Bigbop/reverb closed there has been a void left in the market and we plan to help bring live music back to Queen Street.”

The Wellmont Theater is a theater and concert venue located in Montclair, New Jersey, United States. The theater is located on the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Seymour Street in downtown Montclair, near the border with neighboring Glen Ridge.

In March of 1921, as the decade started to roar, theater manager H.H. Wellenbrick purchased a 115 x 150 plot of land next to the Montclair Theatre to build a new showplace and business office at the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Seymour Street. Combining his own name Wellenbrink and the town’s name Montclair, he named his new theater The Wellmont. Designed by architects Reilly & Hall and built at a cost of $400,000, the modern “fireproof” Wellmont Theatre opened its doors in 1922 as a venue for vaudeville and stage plays and attracted top acts of the era like Charlie Chaplin. Chiefly, though, the theater was used as a movie house. Patrons included Thomas Edison, who watched the picture shows here. Screenings were accompanied by a pianist who played the theater’s Wurlitzer pipe organ.

With the “talkies” on the rise and silent movies on the decline, The Wellmont added sound sync equipment for film when the Stanley Fabian theater chain took over operations in 1929. By the early 1980’s the small Roberts Theater chain converted the single house room to a triplex with an eventual focus on independent films. The entrance on Bloomfield Avenue was moved to Seymour Street and the original Italian marbled lobby became a diner.
In 2006 the Roberts Theaters chain sold to new owners and the Wellmont closed for a $3 million renovation to create flexible floor seating to utilize the original 1922 single stage. With new stage lighting and a cutting-edge sound system The Wellmont, with an audience capacity of nearly 2500, became the area’s largest live concert venue when it reopened in 2008 with headliner Hanson of “MMM Bop” fame.
Another ownership change in 2013 brought many improvements. Extensive repairs and refurbishment repointed the interior’s crumbling plaster ceiling, expanded food and beverage services, and installed a state of the art audio visual experience for concert attendees. With a redesigned logo (Wellmont Theatre became the The Wellmont Theater) booking went to premier concert promoters Live Nation, positioning the historic venue as the resource for New Jersey music lovers in the arts district of Montclair.

The Wellmont reopened in September 2015 and continues to host such renowned performing artists as Tom Jones, Miss Lauryn Hill, Joan Baez, Bush, DNCE, Third Eye Blind, Jim Gaffigan, and Meat Loaf.
