The mission is simple -- to provide a welcoming environment for fans to enjoy the music they love, while maintaining the highest level of production, sound, and programming standards. With over 600 successful partnered events between Insomniac and Exchange LA, an alliance of curators, marketers, operators, and production staff with decades of combined experience, will be developing this new Los Angeles platform for artists to connect with their fans.

The décor is a mix of restored Art Deco styles and distinctly modern touches, from the massive bronze doors out front to the intricately painted forty-foot ceilings and the eye-popping LED screen composed of more than one million bulbs.

There’s a sofa-lined hallway and adjoining lounge at street level, but most of the trendy guests head straight up to the Trading Floor – so named because that’s what it used to be – where they let loose to trance, house, or whatever other dance-friendly beats the DJ’s spinning that night.

Laser lights, wafer-thin house dancers, and pulsing fog machines are definitely not in short supply, but VIPs looking for a more intimate environment have several options, from the booths in the mezzanine to the chilled-out Rockefeller Room or the private dance floor in the top-level Sky Loft.

Six bars spread over four levels means grabbing a drink is less of a hassle than at other packed venues, and with reportedly more bathrooms than any other club in LA, getting rid of that drink is easier, too.

Located directly in the heart of Griffintown, this heritage building has become one of today’s hottest spots in town. Originally built in 1859 the New City Gas complex used to transform coal into gas for lighting Montréal’s streets and buildings. Today, the heritage complex has been transformed into a multifunctional event space encompassing over 40,000 square feet on two floors. Flexible enough to adapt to client needs, the building can accommodate up to three different rooms, each possessing the combination of historic character and contemporary design. When re-opened in 2012 as an event space, its existing shell was maintained and a live venue was built out with a state of the art sound and light experience, while the original vintage and historical elements were restored. Hakkasan is Las Vegas nightlife’s crown jewel. Located in the MGM grand, Hakkasan features 80,000 square feet and five levels of  dance floors, lounges, and restaurants. Omnia in Caesars Palace is known as one of the best clubs in Las Vegas. With a glamorous entryway featuring an art installation and interactive technology, you will be breathless from the moment you step through the door.

Omnia’s two floors and 75,000 square feet feature a three-part design. The main club has a sprawling dance floor and the Opal and Velvet bars. Hanging from the ceiling is a giant kinetic chandelier with lighting effects, choreographed LED lights, and video projections. The second room is known as the Heart of Omnia, a more intimate lounge that combines vintage designs with LED-paneled walls. The music in Omnia’s main room is predominantly EDM, and artists include Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Illenium, Lil Jon, Zedd, Calvin Harris, and Martin Garrix. However, if EDM doesn’t appeal to you, Heart of Omnia also hosts hip hop DJs, while the rooftop terrace tends to play more chill music.

Wait times can get long, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays are a good day to just get a feel for the club, as artists are usually local talent rather than big names, and it won’t be as crowded. Tuesdays and Sundays also tend to be less crowded. On Tuesdays, Omnia hosts “Wild at Heart” in the Heart of Omnia room for a mid-week night out.

In early 2019, the same team that brought Canadians Rebel, Toronto’s largest nightlife and concert venue, INK Entertainment opened Toybox to join their list of coveted nightlife destinations. The 14,000 square feet space is an entertainment and nightlife venue that sought to have the most sophisticated state of the art design make up its interior. A capacity of 1200 guests will be able to take in the brand-new irresistible nightlife atmosphere to Toronto’s elite entertainment district. The building’s two floors are made up of a large main dance floor on the top, and a small bar area and lounge serving as the centerfold for the bottom floor. At Toybox, guests will be able to spread themselves over several large dance floors, multiple bars, and VIP booths, never having to worry about it ever getting too crowded. A large DJ booth features local top Toronto DJs who play a mix of top 40, hip hop and rap music. Opened in 1961 on land the church owned for more than 100 years, the structure went on the market in January and sold earlier this year. It now appears that its future includes loud booming electronic music and pretty people lining up around the block.  

The guys behind popular nightlife hotspots Clé, Saint Dane's, Christian's Tailgate, and other projects plan on having the building renovated and ready to use by the end of the year. 

Clé is just a few blocks south along the METRO line at 2301 Main. 

The new club will be known as Spire, which owner Zack Truesdell says is a nod to the golden spire on the top of the existing church. According to the new owner, the 11,000-square-foot building, on about one-third acre at the southern edge of downtown, is a lot bigger on the inside than it appears. The 15,625-square-foot site had been listed for $2.25 million.

Spire won't be strictly a music venue but Truesdell says he hopes it will be booked 60 percent of the time with electronic dance music acts.

3LAU approaches electronic dance music from an unexpected angle. The artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and entrepreneur born Justin Blau usually begins his compositions on the piano.

“Everything typically starts on the piano,” he affirms. “I like to create the framework for a song traditionally and then add the electronics later.”

It’s a style he’s been cultivating since childhood. Commencing piano lessons at the age of three, he’ll tell you that he couldn’t go to sleep without classical music as a kid. His tastes would veer towards the likes of Radiohead and Sigur Ros in high school as he taught himself guitar, bass, and drums. During his sophomore year of college, he took a trip to Sweden and fell in love with electronic dance music. Upon returning home, 3LAU began creating.

“I was so inspired by that trip,” he says. “I realized the possibilities within the genre, and I started making mashups bringing together well-known pop vocals and dance beats.”

Leaving college in his junior year, he became a favorite on the club scene through relentless touring, initially turning heads with those innovative mashups. His 2013 original single “Escape” established his profile further. Generating 30 million-plus total streams, “How You Love Me” [feat. Bright Lights] dominated radio and closed out 2014 as SiriusXM BPM’s “Most Played Record of the Year.” Along the way, he’d garner support from the likes of Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, and many more. However, he wanted to do more with music, so he launched Blume—the “first not-for-profit dance music label and philanthropic movement.”

“Everybody treats music as a business,” he sighs. “I wanted to put the focus back on the music itself and do something good with it.”

His first single for Blume, “Is It Love” [feat. Yeah Boy], introduces the label, the movement, and a new sound. Coupling together a big room hook and entrancing production, the song racked up 2 million streams in less than a month. Meanwhile, the proceeds from its sales and streams supported the educational nonprofit Pencils of Promise (PoP)—which enables the construction of schools in developing countries. Pencils of Promise is just the first charity collaboration as 3LAU will diversify Blume’s impact in the charitable world with each subsequent release.

Some of our most enduring rock and roll is built upon the following truth: Sometimes you have to replant yourself to find your roots. Nearly a decade ago, three of the four young members of Ithaca, New York, quartet X Ambassadors left home with great ambition, vowing not to look back. Like so many small-town kids before them, they yearned to find fame and fortune in the city. They wanted, as they confess in one of their most powerful new songs, to “go big.” And after years of hustling and overcoming personal challenges, rock stardom felt imminent. But something was missing. Some bands never get that missing piece back, but the potentially great ones go looking for it. More often than not, the search leads them right back home. X Ambassadors’ stomping, syncopated full-length debut, VHS, is all about that exploration. Ironically it proved to be a journey — as the antiquated technology name-checked in the album’s title indicates — through the past.

X Ambassadors’ KIDinaKORNER  labelmates Imagine Dragons and Jamie N Commons appear on VHS ("Fear" and "Low Life," and "Jungle," respectively), but the most noticeable guests are the band members’ younger, more restless selves. The songs on VHS are woven with a series of “interludes,” or bits of audio from the archives from their family video albums. "Moving Day" and "First Gig" provide a cinematic narrative and pay homage to their love for hip-hop. (Classic albums from De La Soul, Dr. Dre, Fugees, and Eminem also featured micro-dramas or gags between tracks.) “I wanted the album to feel like a movie,” the band’s singer and guitarist Sam Harris says. Consequently, the songs on VHS are about movement, speed, and the determination to navigate away from heartbreak and the constraints of small-town status quo. “Run away with me / Lost souls and revelry,” Sam sings, young-Springsteen-like, on the album’s first single, the Top 5 Alternative radio hit “Renegades” — a bouncing folk-rock ode to the misfits and adventurers. Then he continues: “Running wild and running free / Two kids, you and me.”

Music had always been a friend to Sam and his older brother Casey Harris (X Ambassadors’ keyboard player) even when actual friends were few. The brothers grew up with instruments and lessons and hand-me-down Beatles, Stones, Billy Joel, and Joni Mitchell records. These, as well as the musical theater that Sam participated in at school, instilled a strong sense of melody and composition, as well as great hooks. The Johnny Cash and Woody Guthrie albums that their film-maker father favored gave Sam a sense of storytelling and narrative. But everything else around them pointed to a certain kind of faded American glory that screamed: There is no future for you here. “A lot of towns in upstate New York are kind of abandoned,” Sam says. “They used to be these big metropolises and they’re not anymore. Big cities like Binghamton and Rochester haven’t really been big since the ’50s and ’60s. Most of the manufacturing businesses have moved overseas.”

Hip-hop gave Sam his voice without sacrificing his love for massive, arena-ready rock. “I became obsessed with it immediately,” he says. “It was exciting. I felt like I’d found my own music.” The band bonded over hip-hop with the head of their label, KIDinaKORNER’s Alex Da Kid, a veteran hitmaker who has worked with Dr. Dre and Nicki Minaj. VHS’s main ingredient is unapologetically hard rock, like “Superpower,” and soulful, moody pop like “Renegades” and “Unsteady,” but there’s a rhythmic unpinning that can only come from a hip-hop fan, and it gives even the album’s most introspective moments a fresh swing.

It is unusual for a guitar-driven band to welcome elements of soul and hip-hop into their guitar assault with as much balance and care as X Ambassadors do. They have been, after all, all about the rock since their early days. Sam met his future guitarist Noah Feldshuh on the first day of kindergarten. “We were five years old and we became best friends,” Sam recalls. When they got older, they both loved Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, and Kings of Leon, and eventually decided to form a band. The burgeoning group began recording demos very early on. The songs were admittedly rough, but just the notion of being in a band and having a sense of brotherhood was empowering.

Casey, despite being blind since childhood, was accomplished enough on the piano to later make a living as a professional tuner. He played with a series of local bands and occasionally sat in with a nascent version of the current group. But Sam was not keen on Casey joining. “I was like, ‘No way am I going to be in a band with my brother,’” he says. Adds Casey with a laugh: “I was such an asshole to him.” Everyone else pleaded with Sam to relent. “They all said, ‘Sam, your brother is a better musician than all of us. Please!’ So I caved.”

By the time Sam and Noah enrolled at New York City’s The New School in 2006, they needed all the creative strength they could muster. This was not the scrappy Manhattan of old, but one ruled by jaded hipsters prone to dismiss an unabashedly hard-rock loving crew of perceived townies. They met drummer Adam Levin in the dorms and soon the Los Angeles native joined, but fans were in short supply, and the Harris brothers felt like Ithaca was never far behind. “We never felt like a New York band,” Sam says. “You expect to move to the city and become part of some kind of scene but that never happened. It was a struggle for us to get gigs.”

Between classes and menial work to pay the bills, there was every reason to give up, but doing so would mean facing a return to their roots before they were ready. Casey rejoining the fold, after years working and traveling, proved to be a shot in the arm. In 2012, their ballad “Litost” was included on a Spotify playlist and caught the ear of the program director at Virginia rock station 96X. It quickly became a local favorite and the station’s most requested track of the year. That lead to a management deal and a lot of buzz. Another song, “Unconsolable,” provided yet another breakthrough, this time creative, as it detailed Sam’s own relationship struggles. For Sam, songwriting became not only a way out of small-town life, but also a way for him to explore fertile themes of longing, jealousy, and personal pain. Music was a healer and others began to notice. “‘Unconsolable’ was the first song where we captured something truly unique,” he says. Enter an impressed Alex Da Kid, who was working with on-the-verge alternative rockers Imagine Dragons. Alex, Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds, and band friend Dan Stringer co-produced X Ambassadors 2013 EP, Love Songs Drug Songs, for KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.

The songwriting got better and better with Sam figuring out how to transform even the most painful circumstances of his personal life into the songs on the band’s 2014 EP The Reason, like “The Business” and “Free and Lonely,” which resonate with universal truths about out-running your past and chasing your goals. It’s a trait that’s evolved one of VHS’ standout tracks, “Unsteady,” which addresses his and Casey’s parents’ divorce — a blow to the close-knit Harris family.

Fate dealt them yet another hurdle when Casey became seriously ill with a kidney ailment that required a transplant. (Their mother would ultimately donate one of her organs.) “In the grand scheme of our band it seems like a blip on the radar,” says Casey of that time period. “I’m not gonna lie,” Sam adds, “it was pretty stressful.” Once again, however, they emerged unbroken and even more determined to rise above their humble beginnings. Soon after, the small-town boys became a bonafide, touring rock and roll band, playing shows with Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers, and Panic! At the Disco. Each stellar live show added members to their formerly elusive fan base.

VHS brings X Ambassadors full circle. And as they prepare to strike out on their own again, they finally have the self-awareness to guide them through their next chapter. “This album is the culmination of all the work we’ve put in since seventh grade,” Sam says. “I wanted to show people who we are — a group of brothers, best friends, and family who’ve been through so much together.” In one of the interludes, “Y2K Time Capsule,” the Harris brothers’ dad asks them where they see themselves in 15 years. (The answer: “Very far away.”) That was in 1999 and now, just over a decade and a half on, Sam’s soul has been restored by re-engaging with his origins. He maintains a new sense of peace and understanding for the place that made him with fresh eyes. “It’s beautiful,” he says of the land known for its gorges, lakes, foliage and now, X Ambassadors. You can and probably should go home again.

Born and raised on the Jersey Shore, a community deeply rooted in rock history, Ray is a true product of his environment. It was his early exposure to this prolific rock scene and the raw sounds of legends like Bruce Springsteen that influenced Kastra by shaping his musical taste and nurturing a deep desire to produce and perform his own brand of raw and exciting electronic music.

In this short amount of time, he’s gained the support for his free and official releases from EDM’s top blogs including Dancing Astronaut, This Song is Sick, Fresh New Track, Your EDM, and many more noting him as “one of the most under rated house producers out at the moment”. He has seen support from EDM’s biggest radio stations and podcasts including Spinnin Sessions, Diplo & Friends, BBC Radio 1, Avicii’s Le7els, and the Drop podcast where he does his own monthly radio show with fellow DJ Aylen.

Already this year, Kastra has released two new singles and various remixes. He released “Dolla Billz” on the Disco Fries label Liftoff Recordings, "Move Ur Feet" on Macro Records, and has numerous other records on the way. However, this has not deferred him from consistently releasing the free music which he has become so well known for. Kastra has always been a big supporter of free music. His fans can always look forward to mashups, remixes, and even originals that he will give out at any point in time as a thank you for their continued support. Many of these free releases have reached and climbed the Hype Machine popular chart.

Already a regular in all the major cities in the Northeast, Kastra brings his big drums, big riffs, and relentless energy to every show. His ongoing pursuit to creatively and musically express himself to his growing fan base has sent him back into the studio. With numerous releases and projects underway, Kastra is poised for the future.
