Florian Ruiz-Picasso (born 21 February 1990), better known as Florian Picasso, is a Vietnamese-French DJ and record producer based in Cannes. He is a great-grandson of the well-known artist, Pablo Picasso. He gained recognition for collaborations with Martin Garrix and Steve Aoki. In 2016, he was ranked by DJ Mag at 38th on their annual list of Top 100 DJs.

Brooklyn Mirage is the outdoor oasis in the Avant Gardner complex, situated in the heart of East Williamsburg. It's open during the summer season each year, and decked out with thousands of plants and even palm trees, and boasting a KV2 Audio system, it's designed to be a sensory experience for both the ears and eyes.

It is the outdoor component of Avant Gardner, an 80,000-square-foot development at 140 Stewart Avenue in an industrial corridor of the East Williamsburg neighborhood, a few grubby blocks from Queens. By fall, a warehouse (now filled with sacks of cement mix and construction equipment) will be transformed into an event space. Another area will become a 5,000-square-foot club. All told, it will hold 6,000 visitors.

Beginning January 2018, ACADEMY will enter the Los Angeles nightlife space. A location with over 20 years of dance music history, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, the former Create Nightclub, Vanguard, and Qtopia, will be transformed, rebranded, and upgraded for the modern and immersive dance floor experience. 
 
The mission is simple -- to provide a welcoming environment for fans to enjoy the music they love, while maintaining the highest level of production, sound, and programming standards. With over 600 successful partnered events between Insomniac and Exchange LA, an alliance of curators, marketers, operators, and production staff with decades of combined experience, will be developing this new Los Angeles platform for artists to connect with their fans. 
 
Shortly after the 2018 New Year, the stage will be set for hundreds of memorable events for years to come. January 12th through January 14th, Academy debuts with a stretch of four grand opening weekend events. We hope that you can join us.

Martin Garrix may not be a superhero or a secret agent, but he does possess two identities.

By day, he's like any other 17-year-old. He attends school, hangs out with his buddies, and causes just the right amount of mischief for his parents. However, when the sun goes down, he's behind the decks in front of packed hotspots and festivals across the globe, fraternizing with electronic dance music royalty, tirelessly producing in the studio, and dropping records. Not to mention, he's also gearing up for a massive North American tour and U.S. takeover looming on the horizon.  In the morning, everything reverts back to normal for the EDM impresario, but he's changing the genre in the process.

In 2004, Garrix experienced something of a revelation while watching TV at home in the Netherlands.

"I had never been interested in electronic music," he admits. "Then, I saw Tiësto playing the Olympics on television. I hadn't heard that music before. My Mom played classical piano, and my Dad and I played guitar. It was the first time I witnessed the beats, tempo, and vibe electronic music gives you. From that point, I was hooked. I started listening to trance, and I slowly moved to house. I instantly began saving up money for my first DJ setup."

That first setup allowed him to begin performing at parties for his parents' friends, weddings, and other local events. Simultaneously, he produced his own original music, honing his production skills and craft.

In 2010, Garrix hit the stage at a club in Amsterdam. Only 13-years-old at the time, he instantly sent the venue into a frenzy. Fast forward two years later, he posted an unofficial remix of Enrique Iglesias's "Tonight" that sent the blog-o-sphere ablaze. As buzz and enthusiasm grew, iconic dance label Spinnin' Records offered him his first deal. Sander van Doorn lent support through releasing "Error 404" on his label, and collaborations with Sidney Samson ["Torrent"] and Julian Jordan ["BFAM"] followed. Garrix went on to do official remixes for the likes of Christina Aguilera ["Your Body"] and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Vs. Sander van Doorn ["Project T"].

2013 saw him un-cage "Animals", his breakout international single for Spinnin' Records. Fusing a tribal bounce to a seductively dark refrain, the track charges ahead like a dance floor stampede. Upon release, it climbed to #1 on the Beatport Top Songs Chart and impressively held the spot for four weeks. As a result, Garrix became the youngest artist ever to seize the top spot. It reached #1 in the UK, Holland and Belgium as well as Top 5 in Australia, France, Spain, and Germany. With this monster hit, he received support from David Guetta, Tiësto, and Steve Aoki to Afrojack and Benny Benassi. In the aftermath, the track saw release in the U.S. via Casablanca Records. The single had solidified him as a bona fide record-breaking phenomenon.

"I've had that melody since I was 12," he smiles. "It stuck in my head, and I wanted to do something with it for so long. The drop is very different. It feels like you're in the jungle. It's just a blast of energy."

Following up the success of "Animals", his remix of "Project T" and his collaboration with Jay Hardway ‘Wizard’ ascended #1 on Beatport as well.

As he rises through the ranks of EDM, he's also still finding time to enjoy growing up and keeping up with his friends. "It's so weird," Garrix laughs. "They join me on the road very often, and we have fun. They're pretty excited!"

They're not the only ones who are excited though. Fans everywhere have gotten wild with Garrix and "Animals".

He goes on, "The most amazing thing is hearing how many people get inspired by my music and story. I want to show everyone that if you pursue your dreams, they can come true no matter what. That's what I want to do."

2014 has a lot in store for Garrix. His collaboration with Firebeatz on ‘Helicopter’ already got to #1 in Beatport. His USA tour was highly successful and he is heading for Australia as we speak. Garrix will be at the biggest events during Miami Music Week and is already confirmed for lots of other huge festivals this year.

Nicky Romero, real name Nick Rotteveel, was born January 6th 1989 in the small city of Amerongen, Holland. A keen interest in the drums and an early career spinning house and r&b quickly evolved into an unbridled passion for music production. Early releases, picked up by boutique outfit Once Records, caught the attention of some of the more established labels: Spinnin’, Fly Eye, Toolroom and Flamingo Recordings.

As he worked on honing his sound – a seductive blend of progressive house tinged with electro and acid – he sent a bootleg of David Guetta smash “When Love Takes Over” out into the world. The track’s online success piqued the interest of Guetta himself and in that moment Romero found his mentor and champion. They have since collaborated on multiple projects including  “Metropolis” and “Wild One Two,” and in the summer of 2012 Nicky Romero accepted a residency at David Guetta’s infamous FMIF club night at Pacha/Ushuaia Ibiza.

Today, Nicky Romero is paying it forward with his Protocol brand that is quickly establishing itself as a leading dance music platform - a go-to outlet for forward-thinking dance music. Championing up and coming artists, like Don Diablo, John Dahlback, Vicetone, Kryder, Michael Calfan and Merk & Kremont, with his record label, club night and radio show, Romero extends his influence to help develop the next generation of artists, while also supporting more established acts such as Calvin Harris, R3hab, Nervo, Krewella and Bassjackers, amongst others. With the label’s releases consistently flowing in the Beatport top 10, it is clear that its impact is being heard around the world. Furthermore, Protocol Radio, a weekly show syndicated to more than 60 radio stations on FM, receives over 40 million listeners every week and it continues to grow at a rapid rate.

Recent studio output includes “S.O.T.U.,” a single released on Steve Angello’s label Size Records, the worldwide hit, “Legacy” with Krewella, his solo single, “Symphonica,” his UK #1 “I Could Be The One” with Avicii, and remixes for Zedd, Calvin Harris, and more. Additionally, Romero has produced Rihanna’s track, “Right Now,” together with David Guetta, as well as two tracks for Britney Spears. Whether it’s his own original song, a collaboration, or an inventive remix, he consistently receives massive support from a veritable who’s who of dance music aristocracy.

Romero is a force to be reckoned with not only as a producer but also as a DJ. Behind the decks his tenacity and ability to work a room was rewarded as he rounded out an intense international touring schedule including his Nothing Toulouse North American headline tour, his residency at The Light Las Vegas, Coachella, Sensation White, and mainstage appearances at Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, and countless others. One of his stand-out performances of 2013 was at Tomorrowworld where he was the first DJ to play equipped with Google Glass. On top of his own gigs, he produced Protocol Recordings label nights in Miami and Amsterdam that were both a smashing success.

Building upon his accolades, such as his MTV EMA nomination for Best Dutch Act, and prosperity in 2013, Nicky Romero continues to make his indelible mark on the music industry that can be felt in the hearts of his devoted fans.
