Best of Los Angeles
Academy

Beginning January 2018, ACADEMY will enter the Los Angeles nightlife space. A location with over 20 years of dance music history, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, the former Create Nightclub, Vanguard, and Qtopia, will be transformed, rebranded, and upgraded for the modern and immersive dance floor experience. The mission is simple -- to provide a welcoming environment for fans to enjoy the music they love, while maintaining the highest level of production, sound, and programming standards. With over 600 successful partnered events between Insomniac and Exchange LA, an alliance of curators, marketers, operators, and production staff with decades of combined experience, will be developing this new Los Angeles platform for artists to connect with their fans. Shortly after the 2018 New Year, the stage will be set for hundreds of memorable events for years to come. January 12th through January 14th, Academy debuts with a stretch of four grand opening weekend events. We hope that you can join us.

Sound

Sound nightclub is THE bastion of deep house / underground electronic music in LA. It’s a small, intimate venue with a one-of-a-kind Pioneer sound system that will rock your socks. The venue has a raw and industrial look with lots of California redwood furniture and walls and offers a fairly spacious dance floor located right in front of the DJs perch. As suggested in the name, the venue boasts a unique and cutting edge sound system and a killer A/V system, so the visual elements are as stimulating as the unbelievable audio. This is a great place to go in Hollywood that actually books talents who play good deep house and more minimal/artful house rather than your typical top 40 hits and popular house music bangers. Space Yacht on Tuesdays mostly features bass heavy lineups and has garnered one of the fastest growing followings in the bass music scene. Framework Fridays are about underground deep house and techno music and the people who live for it. Sound Presents mainly features house music. On occasion Sound will host some well known DJs (Kaskade, Afrojack, Markus Schulz, etc) but more often than not you’ll get the likes of Guy Gerber, Seth Troxler, EDX, Digweed, etc. This is one of our favorite clubs in LA!

Avalon

Located on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, Avalon is conveniently located in the middle of Hollywood’s tourist area. This historic venue first opened its doors in 1927 and has featured talented and famous entertainment for decades, from the Beatles playing their first West Coast performance to the present day transformation into LA's EDM mecca. This historic nightclub was the first in Los Angeles to truly embrace dance music, even before the EDM craze. What is unique about Avalon is that it is often open past 6 AM, making it the premier destination for people looking to extend their partying session or for night owls looking for an after-party location. Tickets or bottle service are highly recommended here, especially to see the popular DJs. Avalon Hollywood recently completed a million dollar renovation of the club which included brand new lighting and sound systems.
