DJ Skribble Details
A blazing DJ with master turntable skills, DJ Skribble has been blowing away his MTV audience in the U.S. and around the world - this year, reprising his Spring Break magic, then jamming MTV's Almost Legal (20th Anniversary) Special as well as appearing in Britney Spears' Neptune-produced number-one video, "I'm a Slave 4U." His album, "Essential Dance 2000 - DJ Skribble," on Atlantic Records (Warner Group), is still flying out of the stores as his follow-up release, "Essential Spring Break 2001," debuted #1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers" chart, on London-Sire Records (Warner Group). December 2001 brings the third - "Skribble's House" (also London-Sire).
Naturally, these are just the latest hot moves in Skribble's repertoire, coming on the heels of three banner MTV years: Dj hosting Sisqo's Shakedown, hosting around-the-world Fly 2K as well as his own Global Groove, (MTV's international party strip featuring Skribble's mixes) and co-hosting - with Tyrese - the highly-rated weekly strip, "MTV JAMS." What's more, Skribble has been declared the nation's champion dj at Mountain Dew's 1998 Slamming DJ Mix-Off invitational, beating dj's from all top U.S. urban broadcasts for a $10,000 purse. On MTV's wildly popular Spring Break programming (Cancun in 2001, 2000 and '99, Negril in '98) Skribs dj-hosted "The Grind" as well as Spring Break's highest-rated segments, Jerry Springer's "Springer Breaks." In '98, Skribble also hosted MTV's summer work-out program, "The Daily Burn," with co-hosts Tsianina Joelson and Baywatch's Michael Bergen. The hot-selling home video version of "The Daily Burn," distributed by Sony Videos, features DJ Skribble and the music from his albums, Traffic Jams and MDMA! In fact, since '94, DJ Skribs has enjoyed worldwide visibility with MTV as a regular guest DJ on hip hop's best known TV outlet, "Yo! MTV Raps."
Since January, 2001, Skribble hosts "Skribble's House" on America's #1 dance station, WKTU. Already the highest-rated radio strip, "Skribble's House" is scheduled for nationwide syndication this fall. As KTU's Frankie Blue puts it, "DJ Skribble is a multimedia superstar for the new millennium. He's not only the best dj in the country, he's a major market air talent as well." Previously, Skribble hosted music news programming on the MTV Radio Network.
During the two years prior to his MTV move, DJ Skribble knocked 'em out six days a week on WQHT-FM "HOT 97" New York radio providing a smoking mix for the daily "Traffic Jam" segment on "Ed Lover & Doctor Dré Mornings," the number-one-rated urban morning music show in the U.S., as well as host of his own "Saturday Night After Party." Widely recognized, Skribble also showcased his skills for five nights to audience raves as guest DJ with the "Vibe" band, prompting host Sinbad to join him at the wheels of steel for a featured skit.
As a hot producer/scratcher/re-mixer, Skribble is responsible, with partner Anthony Acid, for Wyla Ford's "Dare" (Atlantic) as well as the chart-topping remix hits "This is for My People" by Missy Elliott, (Elektra) "Love This Way" by Eden's Crush (London Sire) and "Gotta Tell You" by Samantha Mumba (Interscope) as well as "I'm Not in Love" by Olive (Maverick), Pink's "Most Girls" (LaFace), Grace's "It's Not Over" (Kinetic), and Jana's "More Than Life" (Curb)! His talent has earned the respect of celebrity recording artists: Run (Run DMC), Busta Rhymes as well as Lauryn Hill, Wyclef and Prakazrel (The Fugees) have all contributed original material for Skribble's hot-selling hip hop mix compilation album, "Traffic Jams"; its sequel, "Traffic Jams 2000," featured Gang Starr, Kurupt, Fat Joe & Big Pun, Juvenile and AZ tracks - both on Warlock/Sony. In fact, his scratches are featured throughout the Fugees' hit album, "The Score," and on Wyclef Jean's solo release, "Carnival." Skribs and Anthony also released "MDMA Volume II," the sequel to "MDMA", their slamming house music compilation.
But a closer look reveals that Scott Ialacci, known to his fans as DJ Skribble, has forged a presence in almost every area of today's cutting edge music/pop culture scene.
In '96, Skribble starred with comedian/mime Bill Erwin in the Broadway musical, "Hip Hop Wonderland" for the opening run at Disney's state-of-the-art showplace, the New Victory Theatre. He also brought theatre-goers out of their seats with an awesome, non-stop performance as the one-man wheels-of-steel orchestra for the long-running Off-Broadway hit, "Jam on the Groove," where he provided the sound for legendary hip hop dance ensemble, the Rock Steady Crew.
From 1988 'til 92, the versatile Skribble played one world and two U.S. tours as a member of the group, Young Black Teenagers, a Soul/MCA recording artist, sharing billing with stars Public Enemy, EPMD, Primus, and Anthrax, as well as performing as the featured dj for bands Primus and Anthrax. Ninety-two through '97, Skribble also performed as featured DJ for tours and live performances by artists Biggie Smalls, Craig Mack, Channel Live, K7 and Artifacts. As an opening act, Skribble also tore it up for the Chemical Brothers' live appearances.
Skribble has also garnered audience raves from three featured appearances on NBC-TV's "Showtime at the Apollo," and appeared in a cameo rôle (Young Black Teenagers) in New Line Cinema's comedy feature, "House Party 2."
