Creamfields, one of the world’s biggest electronic promoters, have revealed plans for an all-new 50,000 capacity two-day camping festival in 2022 which will see them bring their award-winning festival South, taking over the stunning Grade II listed Hylands Park for Creamfields Chelmsford.

With the iconic Hylands villa as its backdrop, the multi-stage festival will also give fans the chance to experience the colossal 15,000 capacity Steel Yard superstructure is scheduled to take place on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, which has been moved to a four-day weekend next year to celebrate her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The launch of Creamfields Chelmsford is a game changer for the UK festival landscape and coincides with the 25 year celebrations of its award winning sister festival Creamfields Daresbury, which is staged annually in the heart of the Cheshire countryside and attracts sell out audiences of 70,000.

Since its inception the UK edition has become one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world, attracting big name artists including Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Tiësto, deadmau5, Carl Cox, Bicep LIVE, Chase & Status, Pendulum and The Chemical Brothers.  Internationally, Creamfields is one of the few festivals to have successfully established itself on the global market with shows staged in Chile, Abu Dhabi, Ibiza, Malta, Argentina, Peru, Hong Kong and multiple cities across China to name a few.

Gareth Emery isn’t a big fan of genres. After all, you don’t get to be one of the biggest names in electronic music by limiting yourself. Known for his keen ability to blend house, progressive, and trance into his sets and his music, Gareth’s versatility is a big part of his global success. Gareth prides himself in defying simple categorization. He’s a rare breed in the dance music community, classically trained in melody and musicality, and with a sound all his own. That’s what has his fans feverishly anticipating this year’s DRIVE, that’s what keeps singles like “U” in the upper echelons of the club charts, and that’s what keeps him on a tour schedule that’s taken him from his native U.K. to Europe, throughout Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the States (where he now spends much of his time).

As Gareth puts it himself, “I’ve been a fervent anti-genre campaigner, pretty much since the beginning. My aim is to express myself through good music no matter what genre you put it in.” This is a quality the producer gained early on in life, beginning with the piano at age four and expanding into a youth spent “playing in various bands and traveling up and down the U.K. performing in horrible pubs.” It wasn’t until a fateful trip to Balearic clubbing mecca Ibiza in 1998 that he found his true calling: electronic dance music. From that moment on, his singular focus became absorbing the music—from trance giants like Paul Oakenfold, to progressive house heavy hitters like Sasha and Digweed, to techno greats like Carl Cox.  “There are so many beautiful styles,” says Gareth.“I can’t understand the logic of only listening to just one of them.”

You don’t have to spend much time with the energetic and down-to-earth artist to see that this passion for dance music comes through in everything Gareth does. A quick study in the studio, Gareth locked down his first record deal in 2002. “Mistral,” Gareth’s first breakout hit, turned many of his heroes into overnight fans and set in motion a career defined by its constant highs. His label Garuda is known for being a go-to source for floor-fillers. His DJ sets are highly regarded and then there’s his podcast--the first of its kind--which only serves to further cement Gareth’s reputation as a trendsetter.

Launched in 2006, at a time when there were virtually no other DJ podcasts, Gareth’s was born out of a desire to showcase the music he loves in a new way. “The reason I started it was because a lot of other DJs were doing internet radio shows,” Gareth says. “That was interesting but everyone was already doing it. The podcast gave me that outlet, where I really could play anything I wanted—progressive or chill out or whatever—and do it uniquely from anyone else.” Eight years and a half million subscribers later, the inveterate innovator’s venture is a proven success. “It’s a way of connecting with fans that I’m not able to see very often,” he explains. “With the podcast people can feel like they’re connected to the music I’m playing on a weekly basis.”

For all his accolades as a DJ and a label owner, they only serve to support his music. The past few years have been intensely focused in this regard. Coming off of his 2010 album debut Northern Lights, which instantly landed atop the iTunes Dance Chart in the U.S, and later hit single, “Concrete Angel,” which has racked up more than 15 million views on YouTube, Gareth is back with a new record and a fresh batch of powerhouse singles. Inspired by his recent travels from Manchester to sunny LA, Gareth’s latest gets its name from the cross-country road trip he and his wife took from New York to California. Recalling the beauty of their journey, Gareth says. “We don’t really have roads like that back in the U.K., hundreds of miles of desert or mountains where you’re the only car around.

The new LP, fittingly titled Drive, is written as the trip’s soundtrack. “During the writing process, my mind would skip back to times like crossing the Oklahoma / Texas border on old Route 66, or maybe some crazy Arizona mountain pass where we felt like we might drop over the edge at any moment,” Gareth says. Sound wise, this helped him avoid some of the current traps in electronic music and get back to his roots. “When I was initially writing songs, I was thinking there had to be these big EDM-style drops and big, distorted drums,” he says. “The trip helped me to clear my head and bring back melody and songs, which have always been very close to my heart.”

A number of collaborators also assisted Gareth with this process, first and foremost his sister Roxanne. The two worked together on almost half of Drive and Gareth shines when he talks about it. “She’s from a singer-songwriter world,” he says. “She brought an amazing and completely different perspective.” Gareth worked hard to ensure his other collaborators brought a similar style of creative input. “One of the things that excites me most is finding people who haven’t sung on dance records before,” he explains.

Gavin Beach, who sings on “Eye of the Storm,” isn’t even a musician full time. “We found him singing cover versions of dance tracks on YouTube and his voice is so fucking amazing, we were like, we have to get this guy into the studio,” Gareth says laughing.  Gavin isn’t the only unique collaboration. Lead single “U,” a potent combination of uplifting pop and infectious emotional house, features U.K. upstart Bo Bruce, the runner-up winner of “The Voice U.K.” It’s become the album’s centerpiece, and its accompanying video —which recently cracked one million views—perfectly embodies its theme.

This isn’t to say that when Gareth did tap talent from the dance-music world, the results aren’t just as infectious. Take intense electro workout “Lights & Thunder” which features runaway Chicago talent Krewella. “It was an amazing collaboration,” Gareth says. “It took us over a year to get it finished, but I’m glad the timing worked. They’ve blown up and the track has become one of the biggest in my recent sets.”

Another highlight on Drive “Dynamite” sees the return of “Concrete Angel” chanteuse Christina Novelli. Primed for the impending summer festival season, the track was written to embody the surge of energy that comes from those immense seas of fans. “We imagined that we were in the crowd for the closing set of one of these festivals with 50,000 other people, fireworks are going off, and it’s this epic end of the night moment,” Gareth says. “We asked what would be the perfect song in terms of lyrics, melody, and emotion that would sum up that moment?”

Gareth’s fans are going to find out what this moment will look and sound like soon enough. With the album’s imminent release, a world tour will follow including a massive new stage show. “For me to take an album like this that's been so much work and then just go and play a standard DJ set, I’d be doing it a disservice,” Gareth confides. Promising that it will be the craziest, most extensive live show we’ve seen from the global talent yet is just one more development in another groundbreaking year for Gareth Emery, and further testament to a career that is defined by breaking the mold and defying expectations.

Starting his career in 2005, Durand was recommended by Tiësto as his 'Tip For The Top in 2007' in DJ Magazine. In that same year he was placed in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll.

His first creations were tech trance singles "Make Me Scream" and "Slipping Away" on the Terminal 4 label, but his real success started with remixes of Tiësto singles "Lethal Industry", "Flight 643" and "Break My Fall", and reworks of The Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" and Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" which brought him into the playlist of DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Eddie Halliwell.

In 2008, Durand remixed Fragma's "Toca's Miracle" and Armin van Buuren's "In And Out Of Love". His solo productions included "Weep" featuring Skin from Skunk Anansie on vocals, which was signed to Perfecto Records.

In 2009 Durand remixed Art of Trance's "Madagascar" followed by his debut artist album Always The Sun on Magik Muzik / Black Hole Recordings. The album spawned three singles "Into Something", title track "Always The Sun" and "No Way Home".

The last twelve months in music production have been prolific to say the least for Craig Connelly, with no less than 11 Beatport Top 10 selling Trance productions to date including two number 1’s ‘Black Hole’ & 'Robot Wars' with remixes for John O’Callaghan and Aly & Fila to top it all off.

His latest single ‘Decibels' landed at number 3 and picked up huge support including Gareth Emery, Armin van Buuren and Markus Schulz to name just a few. His 2013 vocal collaboration with Christina Novelli ‘Black Hole’ hit number 1 on Beatport in just two days, was voted by the listeners of Armin van Buurens ASOT Radio show as the forth biggest track of the year and the official music video has over half a million views YouTube to date.

2014 sets to be his biggest touring year to date with international shows already confirmed in Amsterdam for the FSOE V’s Subculture festival, plans for United States tour as well as repeat performances at the leading UK super clubs including Gods Kitchen. The later stages of 2013 saw him take on a 6 date UK tour plus shows in Argentina, Ibiza & Kenya.

Craig first step on the industry ladder began in late in 2010, when he was announced as the winner of Super8 & Tab’s ‘Empire’ remix competition. On its release his rework caught the ears and found the turntables of a veritable who’s who of trance DJs. His first original production, ‘Absolute Electric’ – a hypersonic, floor-rushing Trancer – proved to be a revelation. Off the back of sustained pre-release play from spinners like Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, John O’Callaghan, Lange as well as his biggest advocate, Emery, it wowed club audiences worldwide. Released in June 2011 – with a remix from Tritonal attached – it tore up the Beatport chart, peaked at #2 and produced one of the year’s most head-turning EDM debuts.

Connelly’s first release of 2012, ‘Robot Wars’ received a major shot in the arm when it became a ‘Tried & Tested’ track on Judge Jules’ Radio 1 show. Featuring a remix from Andrew Rayel it proved to be an even greater sales sensation. Entering Beatport’s top 5 on its first day of release (his third track in a row to achieve this), a week later its runaway success clinched Connelly his first no.1 position on the chart.

As a DJ, Craig has long shown the makings of a great decktition. Building his reputation through Manchester’s thriving club scene, each set he delivers comes purpose built and precision mixed to work the nature of crowd in front of him. He made his debut at the Miami Winter Music Conference in 2012, playing at Space (voted the Best Nightclub in the United States in 2011), followed by return performances in 2013 at Space closing for Gareth Emery and the Garuda label party at Arcadia.

Giuseppe Ottaviani started to release tracks on VANDIT Records, Paul Van Dyk’s renowned label, in 2001 and since then can be considered one of the most talented producer and influential recording artist in trance music.

His musical career started at the age of 4 years in Viterbo, a small Italian town near Rome when he first started to play the piano. After music school in his early childhood and studies of classical music as a teen, he discovered electronic music and started to spin his first DJ-sets at clubs and on local radio stations.
His deep enthusiasm for anything related to technology led to him beginning to use his computer to make and produce his own music and when he met Andrea Ribeca in 1999 (an electronic music enthusiast and also DJ) both quickly decided to start their own music project: NU NRG - Giuseppe’s starting point as a professional musician and producer.

Since that time Giuseppe Ottaviani released club anthems like Dreamland, the Spaceflower EP, Butterfly, Casino Connected and the smash hit Free Fall and won numerous awards like the Trance Award in 2004, 2006 and 2007 for Best Live Act. No wonder why he is playing on the biggest Festivals and greatest events while touring all over the world.

Since 2005 Giuseppe Ottaviani has started his solo career with big success. His solo-productions like Through Your Eyes or his compilation The VANDIT Sessions 4 receive an outstanding feedback from all around the globe. The tracks La Dolce Vita and Far Away on Paul van Dyks album In Between again show his quality as one of the most creative artists in this scene. He also keeps on performing live with more enthusiasm as ever before: “Playing my own music live is something special, something that really touches me” Giuseppe says, “it is an electronic music concert, performing on stage allows you to get through to the people, they really breathe the music, you can establish a two-way bond with them and the music itself changes and reacts to the people, this is why each show is different, unique”.

When it comes to a career the magnitude of Paul Oakenfold it’s hard to encompass one of the true legends of electronic music into just words. For over 3 decades he has elevated and shaped an entire genre and remains one of the leading forces in the global music scene today.

His most recent works have taken him from the DJ booth of the worlds hottest nightspots and festivals to the studio producing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbuster movies. His diversity in artistry and ability has earned him accolades from critics and fans alike. Garnering him not 1 but 2 Grammy Nominations for his works.

But lets take a step back. The son of a musician, Paul came up as a young DJ in the late70s spinning Funk in Covent Garden. Not what some might have expected from one of Trances preeminent masters. But he knew then music would be his life. In the80’s 2 life-changing trips took place. The first in 1984 where he spent several months living in New York City working as A&R man for the famed Champion Records signing DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, as well as Salt-n-Pepa. He also became promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C.

The second trip and more contemporary influence was in 1987 which brought Paul to the White Isle of Ibiza. Here he discovered the Balearic sound that flowed through the Ibiza air at clubs such as Amnesia. Inspired, he took the music and experiences back to the UK and became its ambassador. Paul returned often holding residencies at Amnesia and Pacha in Ibiza. Around the same time Ministry Of Sound in London was opening and tauted Paul as their first resident. However it was his famed residency at UK super-club Cream in Liverpool that brought Paul global respect as a master of his art. It was some say the catalyst to what has made him a touring legend.

This residency was celebrated through the Grammy nominated 2004 compilation ‘Creamfields’(Paul went on to receive a second Grammy nomination in 2007 with his artist album, “A Lively Mind” and then again in 2009 for his production work with Madonna).

Oakenfold’s stature as a DJ and entertainer has taken him beyond the normal club and festival circuit, playing landmark gigs that have changed the face of electronic music.  Highlights include three worldwide tours warming up for Madonna and U2 (with both artists insisting on a DJ set from Paul instead of a support band); performing physically on the Great Wall of China and two sold out dates playing to 30,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl in California.

A year after that first visit to Ibiza, Perfecto was born. Founded in 1988, Oakenfold’s groundbreaking Perfecto record label played an integral role in the birth of trance music, with Paul at the helm producing massive international hits such as “Not Over Yet”, “Bullet In The Gun” and “SouthernSun”.  With countless high profile releases and remixes in its path, Perfecto Records is still the benchmark to which so many labels measure themselves. 20+ years later, Perfecto remains as cutting edge and popular as ever, even resurrecting its Perfecto Fluoro sublabel in 2011. Probably Perfecto’s most notable release was the recent double album “Perfecto Las Vegas” which held the#1 spot on the US iTunes dance chart for several weeks. This release solidified Paul’s stronghold as an International DJ power player achieving the highest selling DJ compilation ever released in US history – with over half a million sales.

Paul has produced for megastars such as U2, Madonna (including her latest release “Celebration”) and The Happy Mondays. As well as three acclaimed artist albums under his own name. He has remixed Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones and Justin Timberlake and released over 20 DJ mix compilations. In recent years Paul has also been responsible for creating some of the most breathtaking film scores and cues fora long list of Hollywood blockbusters – including The Bourne Identity, Matrix Reloaded, Shrek 2, Swordfish and Collateral. But his most anticipated release is yet to come. Paul Oakenfold’s newest artist album‘Pop Killer’ is scheduled for imminent release featuring The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, One Republic and B.O.B.

Astonishingly,despite all his success in the worlds of chart music and film, Oakenfold has found time to keep in touch with his roots as a club DJ.  Over the past 3 years he has held a weekly residency at the legendary Rain nightclub in The Palms, Las Vegas.Planet Perfecto is a fully produced show with 75 circus performers,cutting edge visuals and special effects - giving the 3,000-strong crowd a truly unique experience.
