The Wichita Scottish Rite Center, originally known as YMCA’s Building, is a historic landmark building in the Romanesque style, located in downtown Wichita Originally constructed in 1887–1888 for YMCA, the building was sold to the Scottish Rite Freemasons in 1898. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 as Scottish Rite Temple. The Wichita Scottish Rite Temple was home to numerous Masonic organizations and has long been a gathering place for members of the fraternity and their families. The temple has also played a significant role in the community, supporting charitable efforts and contributing to the cultural and civic life of the city. Today, the Wichita Scottish Rite continues to be a vital part of the community, hosting a variety of events and performances. It is also a popular venue for weddings and other special occasions.
