Julia Jacklin announces new album Pre Pleasure, tour dates

Julia Jacklin has announced details of new album Pre Pleasure and dropped its lead single. The Australian singer-songwriter's third album will be released on August 26 via Polyvinyl. You can see a video for album opener “Lydia Wears A Cross” below alongside details of a headline North American tour. She’s also announced a world tour with support from Kara Jackson, Katy Kirby, and Erin Rae. In a statement Jacklin said of “Lydia Wears A Cross”: “The song is about a lot of things but mainly being a 7yr old Jesus Christ superstar fanatic attending catholic school trying to figure out which way is up. The music video was filmed by my constant collaborator and friend Nick Mckk at Splitpoint lighthouse. I played a show close by recently and asked on stage if anyone could let me film inside. Someone in the crowd knew a guy and that was it. The rest was filmed in the streets of Northcote, Melbourne.”

Pre Pleasure was recorded over three months in Montreal after Jacklin’s world tour in support of her 2019 album Crushing. “The songs on this record took either three years to write or three minutes,” Jacklin said.

Last year, Jacklin and fellow Australians RVG covered Björk’s “Army of Me.” In 2020, she shared a new song called “Baby Jesus Is Nobody’s Baby Now.”
