Clannad Announce Final Ever Australian Tour Dates
Celtic group – and Enya’s old band – Clannad will play their final ever shows in Australia in 2023. The tour will make it 10 years since the group last played in Australia, and it will be the first tour for the band without two of their founding members, twin brothers Noel and Padraig Duggan, who both died in recent years.
The March 2023 run includes dates in Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. In addition to being a farewell tour, Clannad are celebrating their 50th anniversary.
The Australian dates are part of the County Donegal group’s broader farewell tour, In A Lifetime, which launched at the beginning of 2020. Clannad were recently forced to reschedule a Dublin show following the death of Noel Duggan, who passed away in October 2022. Padraig Duggan died in 2016.
Clannad have had a storied 50-year career, with more than 15 million records sold and hits including ‘In A Lifetime’ and ‘I Will Find You’, as well as Grammy and BAFTA wins. Enya – aka Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, the younger sibling of founding members Ciarán, Moya and Pól Brennan – was a member of the band for 1980’s Crann Úll and 1982’s Fuaim.
As part of their farewell, the band’s label BMG Records released the In A Lifetime anthology, which contains tracks from across their career.
