Rice–Eccles Stadium is an outdoor college football stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the home field of the Utah Utes of the Pac-12 Conference.
The venue's seating capacity was increased from 45,017 to 45,807 in 2014, and as a result, the top six season attendance averages and 12 of the top 15 single-game crowds in Rice-Eccles Stadium history were recorded in the last six years.
lso known as the Red Seats, chairback seats at Rice-Eccles Stadium feature a stadium-style seat with armrests. The following areas have these more comfortable chairs: Sections W10-W14 and E34-E37.
The stadium was named after Robert L. Rice who donated $1 million for the old Ute Stadium in 1972. It received its current name, Rice Eccles Stadium, after George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles donated $10 million for the stadium's construction.
