Long-time rock venue The Basement—situated beneath another Nashville legend, Grimey's New & Preloved Music—opened sister venue Basement East a few years back. With a capacity for 400, it's roughly four times as big as the original, cramped venue. Everything from country acts to underground bands to big-name rockers. "The Beast," as regulars call it, features regular compilation shows—like a Dixie Chicks tribute played by your favorite up-and-coming country artists—as well as plenty of surprise guests and secret shows from the likes of the Shadowboxers. You'll be standing in this dimly lit music venue, so if it's an artist you love, arrive as early as you can to nab a spot up front by the stage.
