Roll That Beat presents IVAN SMAGGHE Known as a “DJ’s DJ,” Ivan Smagghe has a gift for finding unexpected connections between unfamiliar records while never losing sight of the dancefloor. Music that defies easy classification flows naturally through his mixes, each transition carrying his unmistakable personality and sensibility. From Black Strobe, It’s A Fine Line and Smagghe & Cross to Ivan & Johnny, his project with Paranoid London’s Quinn, his music moves across genres and has earned the support of peers including Craig Richards, Vladimir Ivkovic and Andrew Weatherall. His approach to both production and selection reflects a belief that electronic music is more than just the soundtrack to a night out. That same approach runs through his work co-running Kill The DJ, his own label Les Disques De La Mort, and Dresden, the DJ duo and party he shares with Manfredas. Having grown from London and Vilnius to clubs and festivals around the world, Dresden sees Ivan guiding the dancefloor in his own way, beyond familiar categories.
