LIL LOUIS at MODECi
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2026
Widely regarded as one of the pioneering figures in the development of Chicago House, Lil Louis has spent more than four decades shaping dance music as a DJ, producer, songwriter, club innovator, and creative force.
Beginning his DJ career in Chicago at an early age, Louis became known for an adventurous approach to programming, mixing, edits, and extended versions made specifically for the dancefloor. His work during the formative years of Chicago’s club culture helped establish many of the ideas and techniques that would later become closely associated with House music.
In 1987, he released “French Kiss,” one of the most influential records in House music history. The track achieved major international success and introduced Lil Louis to a global audience, becoming a defining record of the genre.
He later released the albums From the Mind of Lil Louis and Journey with the Lonely, featuring tracks including “I Called You,” “Blackout,” “Club Lonely,” and “Saved My Life.”
Across his career, Lil Louis has also worked as a producer, songwriter, and collaborator with artists including Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim, Babyface, Meshell Ndegeocello, Donna Summer, Basement Jaxx, Amel Larrieux, and Louie Vega.
Beyond his recordings, his influence extends deeply into DJ culture and the evolution of the dancefloor itself — from his early experiments with edits and extended mixes to his distinctive style of building a musical narrative throughout a set.
Often referred to as “The Founding Father of House Music,” Lil Louis remains one of the most distinctive and important figures in the history of Chicago House and global club culture.
On October 16, Lil Louis comes to MODECi in Seoul.
