The celebrations kicked off at Notting Hill Carnival, where the iconic Saxon Corner on St Lawrence Terrace became the setting for a huge anniversary celebration. Global artists, friends and generations of sound system lovers came together to pay their respects to “Muscle Head” and the Saxon family, with huge crowds gathering to celebrate the past, present and future of this legendary sound. Founded in London in the 1970s, Saxon became one of the most influential sound systems in British music history, providing a platform for artists including Maxi Priest, Papa Levi, Tippa Irie and Smiley Culture, while helping take UK reggae and sound system culture to audiences around the world. For this very special occasion, artists, DJs, selectors, friends and members of the Saxon family – past and present – come together to honour an extraordinary 50 year journey.
