A new label had emerged onto the international scene — and was determined to withstand the test of time. To achieve this, founder Ulf Eriksson embraced the following ethos: avoid short-lived trends and hype, release music primarily from people close to you, stay true to the underground-, and ensure your heart is invested in every release. With memorable records from artists like TM404, Sebastian Mullaert, Johanna Knutsson, Frak, PST, Vanligt Folk, and many more, the label now celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark the fact that a once naive dream has endured two decades, Kontra will be repressing a selection of sought-after vinyls, releasing a batch of new ones, and hosting a series of label nights.
