Description
nonclassical's newest Outside the Lines compilation album launches with performances from two of the featured artists, each of whom tread the blurry line between composition, spoken word, performance art and electronic collage. It is sometimes absurd, sometimes surreal. It is at times plain-spoken, at others appearing as if from behind a veil. It might make you laugh, but it is dead serious.
THE NARRATOR - the poem-shaped storyteller and songbird, and member of collective life is beautiful - builds sounds around sentences.
Max Syedtollan is joined by The Listening Project for a full-bodied performance of some of his weird, amusing, convoluted, traditional, makeshift music. The Listening Project, is a contemporary music group that have cemented themselves as leading agitators in the performance of experimental, contemporary classical and popular music. Since their formation in 2021, the band has performed across the UK and Europe, including with Turner-Prize Winning Artist Jeremy Deller in a modern re-interpretation of his iconic work ‘Acid Brass’.
This night and the full Outside the Lines, Vol. 8 compilation has been co-curated with Neil Luck, a composer and artist who attempts to frame the act of music making as something curious, or weird, or useful, or spectacular in and of itself.
The full Outside The Lines, Vol. 8 compilation will be available for purchase (more than a week before its release date!) at the gig, as limited edition cassette and digital download.
Presented by nonclassical.
