We’re back with our DJ Open Call, and this time, it’s all about Hiphop! ‘Cause after the battle you know that Hip Hop just Don’t Stop. Alongside DJ’s Waxfiend and Maey, we’re opening up the decks to a fresh new name ready to bring that fire! DJ OPEN CALL: HIPHOP EDITION You dance? You DJ? And Hiphop’s in your DNA? This is your shot! We’re looking for a fresh new DJ to jump on the lineup next to Waxfiend and DJ May. Take over the decks on Sunday night, straight after the Hiphop Battle, and bring your sound, your flavor, your energy! Apply before August 3, winner drops soon after. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO - Submit a 45-minute mix: Show us your best set by sending us a link to your Soundcloud mix. Ideally, record this mix specifically for this SDF night. What would you play to get the crowd hyped? - Share Your DJ-ing Experience: We are looking for DJ's with experience! Submit footage of you playing at parties (can be Instagram posts or videos). WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - This is not a competition, it's an open call. We're simply looking for the right fit. - We are looking for a strong Hiphop foundation, with room for eclectic flavors. - Our SDF DJ Supreme team will review all applications. - We plan to share the mix you send us after the festival to showcase your talent. - The selected DJ will receive a €250 performance fee and €250 towards travel and hotel costs. Maey Maey is an Amsterdam-based DJ and producer blending R&B, hip-hop, and electronic dance music. Her sound is fresh yet familiar. From DGTL and Lowlands to radio shows like Rinse FM, she bridges genres with ease. Maey aims to deliver groove, emotion, and a distinct electronic touch. Waxfiend WaxFiend is an Amsterdam-based DJ with more than two decades of experience, known for blending HipHop, Dancehall, Afrobeat, House, Soul and R&B. He holds a residency at Encore, Holland's biggest weekly clubnight, and performs at clubs and festivals across Europe, including Lowlands, Amsterdam Open Air and Best Kept Secret. A dedicated mixtape curator, WaxFiend helped launch the careers of Dutch rappers like Opposites and Kempi. In 2018 he became the first Dutch DJ to mix an official album (Ronnie Flex - Nori), which reached #1 on the charts and earned a gold plaque. He has opened shows for artists including Rihanna, Sean Paul and Kaytranada, and has been nominated for 'Best DJ' at the Dutch MOBO Awards. Beyond DJing, he co-founded Jamrock, Amsterdam's long-running Dancehall/Reggae event, and programs shows at Paradiso. He is currently focused on building a platform for South African electronic music in Amsterdam through his Ziongate events.
