Description
Dripping takes over with a special lineup drawing from the rugged and sublimely twisted.
The night begins with a pair of live sets: Axine M’s churning sonic constructions find a fluidity in the mechanized and the dystopian. Her moniker references the Ancient Greek name for the Black Sea - “inhospitable place” - but there’s a pure sensuality that counterbalances the elemental intensity.
She’s followed by Topdown Dialectic, one of the great masters of modern dub techno. Since the project debuted over a decade ago, Topdown’s music has consistently mesmerized, with each transmission going deeper into an uncanny sound world that defies easy categorization. Like the best of his forebears, Topdown uses lush minor chords and crumbling echo trails to evoke an otherworldly spaciousness. But he has found a way to make his tracks move, twist and unfurl like no one else; his world truly is a world, a series of micro-climates captured with loving detail and stunning imagination.
The club night gets sick from the first moments. Oso Feo, one of the key architects behind SF’s Sutro FM and the forthcoming Everything In Color festival, brings the renegade energy of the Bay to a special b2b with NY’s beloved Lychee. Matük follows with a live set. Mixing the intertwined percussive lines of his home country of Colombia with a deep, deep psychedelia, Matük’s live sets unfurl like a force of nature.
Finally, Parisian punk OKO DJ closes the night with a DJ set. Prepare for chaos; OKO DJ flips the script and plunges in headfirst with a raw mix of post punk, acid, noise, satatnic dubstep and on and on.
