Description
Mama Snake returns to BASEMENT. The Amniote Editions founder has been a major force in the modern techno-trance renaissance. From her emergence in the middle of the ‘10s through her label’s explosive run following its 2019 debut, Mama Snake has consistently pushed into the cutting edge. Euphoric synths drape over razor-sharp digital soundscapes, painting a view of the future as both mechanized and indelibly human. FOLD resident Anabel Arroyo makes her debut following a standout appearance at WIRE. Arroyo’s pulse-pounding, instinctive approach says more with less. With deadly selection and a few decisive movements, she takes control of the booth and doesn't yield until the very last moment. BOUND founder Katie Rex completes the lineup. One of the architects of NY nightlife, Rex has played an integral part in shaping the current techno landscape. It’s reflected in her sets, which bristle with thrilling tension and heavy, hard-edged groove.
Fafi Abdel Nour steps into STUDIO to deliver a dose of pure house bliss. The Amsterdam-based DJ came up in Groningen’s beloved queer underground, where he began organizing nights at OOST as a platform for the inclusive lineups he always hoped to see. While his artistry has steadily evolved, that same message of love and empowerment remains at the core of his creativity, animating his exceptional take on classic house. Gabrielle Kwarteng is back in the room. The NY-born, Berlin-based DJ is one of the true auteurs of our time. When Kwarteng is on, you’ll know. Although she draws from the timeless well of ‘90s house music, Kwarteng invariably puts her own spin on the material. Her signature is hard to pin down, but deeply felt. There’s just an essential cool to her sets that brings every record to life. Jek adds a dose of naughty nerve. The Earth Dog co-founder has been incubating a specific sound, both in his own music and in his curation: sleek but unruly, psychedelic but rooted, and 100% club-ready.
