The Faint
Watch | Listen
Do you remember a time when the synthesized sounds of the ’80s were a regular part of the modern musical landscape? The members of The Faint do, because they were there when it started to happen. In fact, you could even say they’re one of the main reasons it happened at all.
The Faint, founded in Omaha in the mid-‘90s, have always created against the grain, disinterested in making anything except what their own inspiration drives them to make. Each album since their 1998 debut Media has shifted and evolved that desire. Some albums, like 1999’s Blank-Wave Arcade, came from urgent, short recording processes, while others, like 2004’s Wet From Birth, were more carefully constructed.
For 2001’s Danse Macabre, they set their sights a bit further afield, attempting to conjure the energy of bumping Berlin dance floors from nearly 5,000 miles away in eastern Nebraska. The musicians themselves are the constant, together embracing a style that is truly unlike every other band out there.
Whippets
Listen
Power trio featuring Bobby Hussy on guitar and vocals, Tyler Spatz on bass and Hart Alan Miller on drums.
Whippets released their debut 7" EP via Italy's legendary garage label Goodbye Boozy in 2022. It sold out within a week. Their self-titled debut LP came 2 years later via Hussy's own label No Coast (Oh Sees, Patriarchy, Carrellee, Wristwatch, etc), and it is currently sold out.
Known for intense and chaotic live shows as well as nuanced recordings that teeter equally between post-punk, grunge, shoegaze and garage rock. The band's reputation for impressive live performances gained them a coveted opening slot for Jack White in their hometown of Madison, WI during White's 2024 run of secret shows. "No Skulls", Whippets' sophomore album will be coming via No Coast on LP and CD formats in October of 2026. It features 10 new anthems of dark, stark and sharp-tongued post-punk grungegaze. To support the release Whippets will be embarking on a string of US tour dates in the Fall of 2026, as well as a 23 date European tour in January/February of 2027.
Bobby Hussy's previous output in his band The Hussy with Heather Sawyer (Proud Parents, Heather The Jerk) gained national recognition from Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, Spin, and The Onion's A/V Club among numerous other publications. Pitchfork praised the band's "nuance" on their third record Pagan Hiss, and they also included The Hussy's swan song, Looming, in their Best Punk and Garage Rock Albums of 2019 list. The band released seven LPs on labels such as Dirtnap Records, Southpaw and Tic Tac Totally, alongside a slew of singles on various American and European labels. During their 12 year run, The Hussy toured America extensively, as well as jaunts to Europe and Australia. They performed alongside contemporary luminaries Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, King Khan and BBQ, Digital Leather, The Faint, White Fence, legendary staples Mudhoney and too many other amazing bands to name them all here. He has performed at the premiere garage rock festival GONERFEST 4 times. Bobby Hussy has also performed in the bands Digital Leather, Cave Curse, Fire Heads, and he currently records and performs with Wristwatch, TIT, Julian Heresy and Superblooms. Tyler Spatz has played in the bands The Hussy, Cave Curse, Yuka Zolo and he currently performs and records with Geoff Palmer, Poney and Wristwatch. Hart Miller has played drums for Tenement, MDC and Wartorn.
