Description
A one-off JIJEI x ORMSIDE collab.
Speed-run through drill, bouyon, funk br, grime and club loading into your fav playable map,
Ormside lineage veterans meet new challengers from recent JIJEI lore.
Choose your hero:
ONOOLA-SAMA
Since 2020, Toronto’s Onoola-sama has released a string of records that deftly touch R&B, trap, jerk and, more recently, bouyon and Afrobeats — all necessarily loaded with her signature satin vocals and low-lit dancehall magnetism. As we approach carnival territory, there’s no one we’d rather have join us to direct the collective bumper for this special edition of JIJEI x ORMSIDE.
MC ZKW
A longtime JIJEI stalwart currently split between São Paulo and Marseille, is a baile funk MC of the highest order. ZKW’s live performance is chronically heavy, spanning several funk styles native to his home city of São Paulo. He also joins Onoola on the recent bouyon wave, notably through a run of standout productions from JIJEI’s Poundshop.
DARKIO BLACKS
Perhaps todays coldest representative of an almost-lost, now-resurgent UK drill era. Darkio’s raps flicker over a new wave of jerked-out drill rollers: a certified heads-down experience for all the gremlins.
GRANDMIXXER
The grime ayatollah. Very little introduction needed: one of the hardest DJs technically out there, and I’ll die on that hill if anyone wants to try it. That’s without even mentioning the wild selections. Even if you had the same tracks, you would never sound alike — unless you too can work a grime dub into a techno stepper on the fly?
SHAUWDII
One of south London’s current standout genie selectors: soulful yet freaked out, hot and heady, weird clashing business. Not worth getting into the genre conversation, because she can and will deliver just about anything worth the floor time.
