Description
Aberdeen is a Brooklyn-based horn band known for its soulful melody-driven instrumental arrangements led by Brian Plautz. Aberdeen's music is about community; a large collective of musicians featuring saxophones, trombone, trumpet, and often guitar, bass, and drums. Aberdeen's albums *Downpour* and *Held Together* showcase their energetic, massive, one-of-a-kind sound. Aberdeen features Allison Philips, Brian Plautz, Olivia Hughart, Jared Yee, Mackenzie McCarthy, Jacob Melsha, Jasim Perales, Stephen Chen, Shubh Saran, Ronnie Lanzilotta, + Ross Pederson
Donny McCaslin's escapades on the tenor saxophone have both embraced and sometimes repudiated contemporary notions of jazz — often simultaneously and with a deep understanding of what has come before and what lies ahead. Although he garnered widespread acclaim for his stint as bandleader for David Bowie’s swansong LP *Blackstar*, McCaslin’s journey to that point encompassed numerous yard markers of the up-and-coming jazzer with boundary-busting on his mind. Donny McCaslin \[saxophone\], Jason Lindner \[synthesizers + electric piano\] Jonathan Maron \[bass\], Nate Wood \[drums\].
