Description
Yonti headlines a night of steely, unwavering techno. One Berlin’s finest, Yonti’s tightly coiled, rigorous sound blends evocative atmospherics with perfectly-balanced impact. His are the kind of sets you could bask in for hours - propulsive, futuristic, spacious and thrilling all at once. Using crisp, decisive layering and an ear for edging tension, Yonti leaves dancers breathless. We welcome him back. Beste Hira joins him, returning to the room for the first time since making her debut at Altær in March. The Dutch artist is a force of nature. While her sets can be sleek and coursing, her original productions betray a raw and rowdy touch that’s electrifying. Her recent split with DHÆÜR on Amotik is a prime example, marrying bold, linear techno with a writhing, unruly energy that’s all her own. Annie Lew has become one of NY’s definitive emerging artists. Her throttling, brutalist techno calls back to the ethos that made the Berlin school so influential, but with a modern twist that is quintessentially American and unmistakably of the now.
Jason Kendig goes b2b with James Axon. Kendig’s bonafides are, at this point, unquestioned. A co-founder of Honey Soundsystem, he has played as significant a role as anyone in the nurturing of the modern queer underground. But beyond that, he is a DJ of the highest caliber. Drawing on decades of experience, Kendig consistently finds fresh terrain to explore, teasing out house music’s most timeless elements without hewing to the retro or getting caught in restrictive genre tropes. LA’s James Axon is the founder of Planet Love, one of the city's best queer parties. His penchant for ecstatic highs and glistening surfaces calls back to the essence and lineage of disco. You can feel the rapturous energy pouring out of the speakers every time he plays. Kilopatrah Jones steers the ship towards deeper waters. The NY favorite represents the hard-edged soul of the city like few can. There’s a reason they’ve become such a beloved favorite; Kilopatrah Jones takes a classic template and makes it sing. “Music is love & love is the message.” So says Immy, who makes her STUDIO debut. The Berlin-based artist’s work calls back to the explosive early heyday of dance music, when disco was rapidly evolving into house music, and every season brought a bold new mutation. There’s an inherent joy in Immy’s mixes, which bathe the dancefloor in radiant warmth.
