Description
Function returns to headline BASEMENT. He is, paradoxically, one of the most revered and also inimitable producers in the techno canon. Since his earliest years as a resident at The Limelight in NY, Function has displayed a unique capacity for ear-catching hooks that balance out the foreboding atmosphere of his brooding, at times gritty techno. As a member of Sandwell District, he helped rewrite the playbook, crafting one of the most profound and singular discographies in the genre’s history. And across the last two decades, his solo work has consistently evolved, exploring new pathways. What remains unchanged is his signature - equal parts emotionally resonant and elemental, you always know a Function track when you hear one. LOLSNAKE keeps the night at a fever pitch. The Weeeirdos co-founder brings a feverish, exploratory energy to taut, hypnotic techno. A LOLSNAKE set can be at turns mercurial and slamming, mixing in evocative sound design and startling layers over a thundering core. Elle Dee completes the picture. One of NY’s best techno DJs, Dee has distinguished herself over a decade-plus time in the booth. She’s a force to be reckoned with, representing the genre at its grooviest.
Tom Peters returns from Berlin. An artist with deep ties to NY, Peters holds a residency at Le Bain’s ON TOP party in addition to his own BERLINCIAGAY. In all his work, Peters draws on the queer lineage of dance music; his sets are precision-tooled expressions of pure, bombastic liberation. Meanwhile his productions, including the just-announced “Can U,” are raw, urgent and galvanizing. Dee Diggs joins. A true artist whose work reflects Black lineages with an unwavering dedication, Diggs pays homage while forging a path forward. For her, dancing is a necessity, not a luxury. As she once said, “it is vital for us to connect to one another, especially during such a heavy time in the world. The dance floor is a place where this can happen. If it’s not just used as an escape route or for hedonism, it can be a powerful connector and can teach us so much.” LA’s Miracles is back. A regular presence in the international queer underground, his decades inside the booth have culminated in an effortlessly flowing sound, where punchy anthems weave seamlessly with deep, headier cuts.
