Sick Tamburo was born from an idea by Elisabetta Imelio and Gian Maria Accusani, previously associated with Prozac+. Elisabetta and Gian Maria chose the name Sick Tamburo, originally conceived for Gian Maria's noise percussion project, now known as Hardcore Tamburo. Sick Tamburo began by posting a few songs on MySpace (In fumota, Finché tu sei qua, Topoallucinazione, and Quel paese) and the video for "Tocca 24/7" on YouTube, in which they appear wearing white masks to hide their faces. They decided to use nicknames: Gian Maria chose Mr. Man, while Elisabetta opted for Boom Girl. However, they were recognized and abandoned the masks, choosing balaclavas instead for aesthetic reasons.
