This week we have an Sun Rain sharing their new record "Tabula Rasa" from 7pm-11pm. --- Sun Rain’s latest album, Tabula Rasa, is a minimalist ambient journey that slowly unfolds, building layer by layer and track by track. As the project progresses, the album organically evolves into an immersive listening experience that feels both deeply personal and universally cinematic. The title Tabula Rasa, Latin for “blank slate” or “scraped tablet”, could not be more fitting. Across the album, Sun Rain approaches each composition like an open canvas, using ambient and electronic soundscapes to present stories beyond language. Every track is in its right place, allowing an atmospheric emotion to naturally emerge. The album’s emotional centerpiece, for example, arrives halfway through with “Marjorie,” a harp-driven instrumental dedicated to Sun Rain’s grandmother, who passed away a few years ago. The track feels intimate and meditative, like taking deep breaths alone in a quiet forest. Without the use of words, Sun Rain captures grief, reflection, and peace through subtle textures and gentle melodies. Songs like “Measurements” embrace glitched electronics and fragmented rhythms, while “Improv 004” strips everything back to a calming solo piano performance. The eight song LP opens with “Enter” and closes with “Restore,” two synth-guided pieces that resemble the opening and closing credits of a film that does not exist. This meticulous decision frames the project with a quiet sense of completion. Throughout the half hour runtime of Tabula Rasa, Sun Rain crafts a thoughtful and transportive ambient record that rewards multiple listens. Every instrument has a purpose. Every note matters.
