Description
Lars Huismann returns to BASEMENT to headline Altær. Hard as nails and laser focused on throttling power, Lars Huismann delivers high velocity techno in its purest form. Last year’s aptly-titled “Mechanized” EP on Dax J’s Monnom Black label shows him operating at the peak of his powers. Every moment lands with impunity - all killer no filler. Huismann still located surprising pockets of emotional resonance amidst the chaos. Lindsey Herbert returns. Herbert’s track record of hypnotic, shapeshifting loop techno is unimpeachable. Her releases on Truncate, Ascetic Limited and others are consistent standouts, with a carefully dialed sound that often warps Herbert’s own voice to uncanny effect. Altær founder Auspex completes the lineup. Across his sets, curation, and growing Templum label, Auspex locates the seismic and tectonic in controlled movements and carefully contorted shapes.
STUDIO hosts a special b2b: Jason Kendig goes head to head with Will Automagic. These two should get along nicely. Both have moved through the same scenes over the past two decades, each blazing similar trails as key architects of modern queer nightlife. Between Kendig’s involvement with Honey Soundsystem and Automagic’s tireless curation for The Carry Nation, you would be hard pressed to find a dancer today who hasn’t been touched by their work. Cosmo returns to STUDIO. One of NY’s premier classic house selectors, Cosmo basks in the radiant joy that made the genre so revolutionary. Ryan Farr makes his debut, channeling pure, libidinous joy. A regular of NY’s queer underground, Farr’s bombastic approach is a perfect fit for the night.
