This July, Psyk makes his BASEMENT debut at Wrecked. As the label boss behind the revered Non imprint, Psyk has played a major role in defining the cutting edge of techno in the 21st century. In his own productions, released on Mote-Evolver, Semantica and Tresor, his sound is quintessential, with a precise balance between light and shadow. Psyk is a master of synthesis as a vessel for mystery and seductive tension and there are few techno DJs working today who couldn’t say they were touched by output and curation. Jason Kendig joins him for a special techno set. Changing lanes from his primary mode as one of the best house DJs working today, the Honey Soundsystem co-founder draws on his extensive, expansive collection for this night. Kendig is a DJ’s DJ, with a unique touch that imbues everything he does with tasteful elegance. Even when he bangs it out. Ryan Smith completes the lineup, balancing the night with a dose of the hard-edged and wild-eyed. Smith transcends genre, and always finds a unique twist. He co-founded Wrecked with a “music first” philosophy, and over fifteen years later he continues to embody the ethos.
Jubilee returns to the room. A notorious party starter, Jubilee’s wheelhouse includes raw breaks, heavy bass, saucy vocals and slithering acid. For reference, see last year’s “Main Character” EP, which soaks in unabashed decadence and uninhibited hedonism. The EP has no compunctions about throwing down, bringing a heavy, bumping sound that can’t help but to set the room off. Honey B joins for the first time. She’s fresh off the release of “HD2,” her collaborative LP with Nextdimensional. “HD2” is a perfectly tuned journey through liquid low end and rolling grooves. Ron Like Hell ties it all together as only he can. One of the greats of our era, Ron’s ability to match the moment is peerless.
