Description
Juliana Huxtable - one of the genuine icons of the NY rave underground - takes over the room with a very special open-to-close set. This is only the third time we’ve invited an artist to helm the decks for the full night, but Huxtable’s artistry compels it. Before she was a full-time DJ, Huxtable was already a multifaceted and highly accomplished artist, working in visual, text and performance mediums. And it’s this expansive, fearless approach that has made her such a remarkable force as a selector. "DJing is an opportunity to walk people through freedom,” she once said, and you can feel that freedom in every moment of her sets. Huxtable is a certified worldbuilder, fusing genres and jumping across timelines with a burning conviction and sense of creative daring that is all her own. This will be an unmissable night.
“I like music and music likes me.” So says Natuta, founder of the Eau de Cologne event series, which takes place in Horoom at Bassiani. A true free spirit, Natuta harnesses the sublime and the rugged in equal measure, but her house sets stick the landing for sublime grooving club music. She’s an undeniable force on the decks, with a breezy authority that commands the room. Leonce’s mastery of decisive, taut percussion and elegant, bass-weighted minimalism is on another level. Using restraint to its fullest potential, Leonce’s productions are sushi-grade servings of exquisite rawness. If you want to see what confidence looks like, Leonce will show you. The flow continues with Alexis De La Rosa, the Bronx-based artist who channels all the saucy lust that house music has to offer. Distilling the material to its essence, De La Rosa comes in hot with unalloyed, throbbing power.
