Is this thing on?? We’re back for the second SLICK DOWN of the summer on Friday, July 10th, and we tryna get y’all right!! We’re welcoming two deep, sexy, soulful, and expansive sonic explorers, Niyah West and Stonie Blue, for the second installment of our Bossa Nova Civic Club residency. We had the pleasure of sharing space with Stonie Blue and 30+ other Black artists during our 26-hour live dweller radio broadcast in February. Stonie pulled us in with an hour of swirling, intimate conversation with a pair of CDJs and the TR8 drum machine. His signature sounds across releases on BIYDIY Records and his BodyRock party share a through line of interesting, warm, chunky, thudding energy that feels a bit strange yet invokes familiar in the best way. We had to run it back and welcome Stonie back for a rare live/hybrid set on July 10th. Niyah West is not only our fav, our bestie, co-founder of In The Pocket, co-founder of Queer Vinyl Collective, producer extraordinaire (“Skin Contact” out now on Nervous Records’ Full Tilt Carry Vol. 3), and a SLICK DOWN dancefloor regular. Niyah is one of the coldest DJs touching decks in the city, boots! One of our North Stars in the scene, we’re so privileged to be able to bring Niyah out to freak the Bossa decks and make those four walls sweat. Y’all up for the task??
