"High-octane." "Dance-frenzy." "Banned from every Best Western Location in the Contiguous U.S." These are words that spring to mind when talking about Los Angeles-based rock n' roll band Tio, a delightful blend of funk, jazz, afrobeat, tropicalia, and psychedelic polka guaranteed to put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip. Rising to prominence in dilapidated Venice Beach backyards and musty Echo Park rooftops, Tio was renowned for bringing to life the first ever live power hour, sixty songs in sixty minutes. They are still waiting to hear back from the Guinness Book of World Records, despite multiple cease and desist letters from the record book. In 2022, they released their debut album, a cosmic rock opera, named "Tio Presents the Planets," a chronicling of how Pluto once again reclaimed its planetary status. They are currently in the studio, cranking out their second. It, like everything they do, will be guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face. Tio aims to please.
Joban
IG I tik tok
Joban is an R&B singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from artists like Jorja Smith, Kehlani, and Olivia Dean, her music blends modern R&B with jazz, soul, and pop influences.
Since moving to Los Angeles, she has continued to write and release original music, including recent singles “Leave” and “Sunlight,” and upcoming "Walk My Way", set for release this summer.
In addition to performing throughout Los Angeles at venues including The Hotel Café, El Cid, and The Penmar (and now The Troubadour!), Joban has performed alongside Sean Kingston, was part of the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show, and most recently performed as "Gazelle" in a Film Independent's official cast reading and musical presentation for ZOOTOPIA 2.
Joban's music is available on all streaming platforms and you can follow @jobansings on Instagram and TikTok for new music, live performances, and watch that one TikTok of her cat that went viral.
Friends Of:

Friends Of is the solo project of Topanga Canyon native Zeke Reed, made possible by the eclectic musicians, filmmakers, and artists who make up the Friends of Universe. His sound is as eclectic as his collaborators, but the vibe is desert disco. Zeke blends his love of the western wear and vintage Americana with pure dance floor euphoria.
A classically-trained cellist, Zeke started making his own music while studying neuroscience and philosophy at the University of Virginia. These days, he lives in a 1971 Airstream in Topanga Canyon and records in a converted tool shed overlooking the canyon.
Friends Of's debut album "Contemporary Cowboys of the Canyon" is due out next year. Recorded between Topanga, Los Angeles, and Mexico City, the album blends humor and heartbreak into a sonic journey through disco, house, indie, and psych. Best hold on to your cowboy hats.
